2010 E550, 273 Engine: 2012 S550, 278 Engine

Center Grille

I am in need to replace the low grille in front under the bumper. It is called "Center Grille" or something like that.

I ordered a new part but my question is if anybody here in the forum knows if I need to remove the bumper for replacing it.

I've done it. I did not take off the bumper. It was a pretty easy job.

It's a very easy job...definitely no bumper removal.

Seems after a couple of years, or if you get a big rock hit, you will be doing this again. You'll get good at it. Lol.

I always seem to hit truck tire chunks. 90% of the damage to my car is from junk that comes off of trucks on the highway.

I was searching for a "metal" after market substitute for this. You could do one of the diy grills I guess. Probably wouldn't look right....

Yeah, it very easily could happen, just is that the car had this hole when I got it. The previous 2013 model I had for 1 1/2 years did not have problems and I was able to dodge all debris on road. I started using the Distronic at max distance on highways after too many windshield replacements...also helps with debris on road that can be difficult to avoid if following too close.
