M278 - 400.000 km., so far.

Then the day came.... 400,000 km - still driving like when I picked up the car from the dealer as new.

Besides normal service and oil changes every 12,000 km, both turbos have been changed at 387,000 km, and 2 times Airmatic bladders.

Still really nice compression, and the oil consumption is not alarming compared to Mercedes specifications.

Thanks for the update
Some people scare off turbo engines but yours is a great testimony and I think at such a mileage it's very normal for the replacement as well
Happy Driving

I wish mine could go as far as that one but nothing is as sure.

Congrats, that's quite an impressive distance and I wish the best to your engine for the leap to half a million km !

Thanks - when I took the car over from my company, Mercedes had to go through the whole car and replace everything that was needed. Mercedes carried out boroscope checking and compression testing. Mercedes said the turbos were fully functional, almost no "gaps"- but Mr Schröder 400,000km is still a lot of kilometers for a turbo, so they were replaced.

Well seen - the steering wheel is one Mercedes has fixed in temporarily, as the original steering wheel is for repair as the clear coat was torn.

Transmission original?

Actually....what is original? Car looks great, though. Clearly taken care of. Proves that "miles" aren't necessarily hard on a car. Disrespectful people are.

Hey - engine and gearbox are original, have never been opened. No other work has been carried out, apart from the turbos, and very early in the car's life, tensioners and chain, two ignition coils (destroyed by water after I wanted to clean the engine compartment) and two ball bearings in the front drive shafts, as well as normal wear parts in the steering, suspension, plus twice air bladders. Otherwise only regular service - additives have been added at each oil change.

For more than 25 years, I have used additives from Lindemann, a small Danish company. In the dawn of time, I have been involved in developing a few of their products. We use additives for all our private vehicles and the company's, and then servicing our customers airplane. At each oil change, an engine additive is added, the same in the gearbox at an oil change, as well as other oils. In every third tank of petrol, I add a cleaning additive. Lindemann manufactures additives for, among others, AMG, Ferrari, Rolls Royce (Marine and aviation), British Railways and many others.

Awesome, I'll check that out.
I'd like to give my engine the best chances to go as far as it could so I'm curious to how people do it.
