2007 s550 drivers rear air strut leak question
quick question.
if my drivers rear air strut is leaking, and i know its this one only because you can hear the leak, would it make the whole drivers side lower than the passanger side? It seems to be slanting downward to the drivers side equally when you look at it from the front.
not sure if just cause the rear is leaking and wont stay air up and then doesnt hold air after turning the car off, if the car will also be lower on the front drivers side to. its evenly lower on front and rear drivers side and slants down to the right when looking at the front of the car.
Obviously, I will be replacing the leaking air strut. Just wanted to add that in.
follow up question:
will replacing the drivers rear strut and then turning the car on and allowing to air up fix the issue that seems to make the whole drivers side lower than the passenger side?
Thanks

Anyway, the driver side strut was never installed in the car while the passenger side was on for about 5 miles test drive. Opened the box to see if the passenger side strut is missing a rubber cushion or something but no, nothing in the box that passenger side one did not have.
I am ready to carry these by the road as they just take room in my tight storage space so if you are interested I will give it or both away but you would need to arrange the shipment. PM me if interested.
Finally got the strut replaced and the car is back to normal. Had a huge issue because someone who may have worked on the car previously had put one of the bolts in backwards. LOL. So, there was no clearance trying to remove it since the bolt is longer than the area it needs to slide out of. It was the bolt on the bottom are to loosen the knuckle from the area the shock sits in. I was like WTF! It had to be a pain in the *** to even get it in backwards. Made me laugh, but super frustrating as I had to get help to kind of move the rotor/caliper assembly slighty and then use a punch to hammer it out LOL. It is now back in correctly. I circled it in red in the pic. That bolt was put in from the wrong direction and there is no way it went in easy when someone put it in backwards. LOL thought youd all get a good laugh at that.
thanks again.
all you had to do was loosen the caliper a smidge or the screw on the disc to it coudl wobble

I told him to buy new shocks
He refused, and told me to rebuild them
I followed his advice
Apparently there is a re builder here in Greece that does *phenomenal* work with Airmatic/ABC struts/shocks, and luckily my dealer pushed him vs selling me new parts.
I actually called the re builder to congratulate him as the car rides smoother than it did 10 years ago, he explained to me that he uses a different type of oil, and does some other misc updates/enhancements inside the strut, I didn't really understand what he was doing but I could tell he knew what he was talking about. It's been 2-3 yrs since then and the car still rides and handles exceptionally well.
I asked him about Bilstein then and the reaction was negative, something about clunks and problems. Aerosus was rejected (they screwed me big time on my 750i E38 w/SLS/EDC).
Perhaps someone in the US is doing a similar type of thing, i.e. rebuilding Airmatic struts?
I am quite lucky to have found the *best* Mercedes dealer ever to service all of my MB's. It's the type of service dept that takes the //stealer// out of the dealer if you know what I mean..
