My car is S350 2010, the trunk won't open using the Fob or inside button. I tried the manual key but it won't turn either way at all. There is no switch in the glove box to lock/unlock the trunk.
I disconnected the main battery for a few minutes but it did not help.

Hmm... that sound like a mechanical problem.
Soak the lock in penetrating fluid (not WD40) and try to wiggle the key left and right, see if you get some movement.

yep 100% normal it won't want to move for the first 10 mins fighting it - I expect the other issues are snapped wiring by the left hinge - all std Merc bilge quality
Um, the release handle on the actual trunk?
It's all electronic. Anything else wrong with the car? Are the batteries charged?

Looks like the release handle is stuck in open position. When i touch the handle the light in the fob blinks.
No other electronic problem
This is the first problem i face since i joined.

When you press the trunk open button on the key fob do you hear any noises like the lock trying to move?
Is there a trunk open button along with the window buttons on the drivers door?
You say the trunk lid handle is stuck in the open position, it doesnt move?
Have you tried pushing down on the trunk to see if it reengages the lock.
have you tried scanning the car for any trunk related fault codes.
Do you have folding rear seats or a pass thru arm rest, can reach in the trunk and hit the emergency release to see if that works.
I don't hear any sound when i press the trunk button.
There is trunk open button inside but it won't open the trunk.

lube and wiggle the key - when I first needed to do that no key movement at all - took until 20 mins of key in lube wiggle lube wiggle - then it magically started to work and still does 3 years on - just did it on Sunday first attempt nothing - no movement little wiggle for 10 seconds and it remembers its job
Its almost like its in valet mode, except the mechanical key doesnt work.
As noted above spray a little penetrating oil on the mechanical key and see if that frees up the lock.
My back sliding door lock at home occasionally starts binding up and the key becomes hard to rotate im afraid of breaking the key. Few squirts of something like PB Blaster and its working smooth again. I tried using a silicone spray lube but that doesnt seem to last very long.
