S63
to all you lucky people that are awaiting their S63: you will be soooo pleased. this car is considerably beyond my high expectations- elegant in an understated way, though color choice can accentuate its impact, exceptional quality inside, drives somewhat smaller than its actual size, lots of power and maybe more immediate delivery than from my SL63. can't imagine that I could have made a better choice; really have to wonder why anyone would buy panamera, much less 911 turbo s (at 200m) or R8 v10.

I take it you took delivery of yours? If so congrats and pictures please.
I'm impatiently awaiting mine. Build is still decade 1 in December. Hoping nothing changes on that. I have my dealer checking daily for updates. Literally like watching paint dry.

I agree that the car does not seem as big while behind the wheel, it also does not seem as large as S Classes of the past.......to me........can't wait to get mine either of course.....

Biggest issue w/'14 S63 is whether MCT is less clunky (and more confidence-inspiring) in low-speed urban driving and more reliable and safe (vs occasionally blowing up at speed/in-traffic, to which many MCT/DCT/PDK still seem prone, some ~5yrs post-launch and attempted debugging)
Also would be intrigued whether brake pedal feel of steel brakes is well-sorted...prior-gen S/CL63/65 had grt steel brakes and pedal feel...but '13-'14 SL65 has poor pedal feel w/steel brakes....CCB on latest SL65 are simply marvelous in pedal feel/response/lack of squeak (arguably far better CCB than anything from P/F, esp in wet)....and lack of brake dust
Will be curious what 4Matic/Airmatic entails in terms of issues like driveline vibrations at 40-70MPH (a seemingly unsolved issue by VW/Bent/Audi) or ride comfort (have always noticed crap ride of S550 4Matics/Airmatics when forced to use them as taxis in NYC on NYC region's 3rdWorld roads: despite US' highest taxes for decades; amusing how Germany pays for smooth roads despite similar crap weather and far less wealth and tax revenue)
Most troubling aspect of latest S63/65 (grt that this is such a major issue in an otherwise impressive-seeming car) is the rather disgusting aesthetics of the steering wheel....looks like ripped out of some crap US/Japan-engineered/built car
Second weak issue of S63/65 is ancient fin on roof for mbrace, etc; why isn't trunk lid carbon/composite like that of CLs of prior 3+yrs, elim'g need for this ancient fin?
Other Luddite issue is bulletholes in bumpers, presumably for PkgAssist....an utterly useless feature in US (at least ex-ThirdWorld NYC) where any >$175K cars are parked on spacious streets and/or in a supervised valet setting w/ample space vs other often >$175K cars of owners who are particular abt pkg of their cars and avoiding dings/scuffs.....who view <$50 cost of valet pkg as worth every penny, esp when self-park and keep key
Sadly, AMG had cheap plastic airbag covers on steering wheels of even '08-'09 CL65s; they had solved problem in '11 CL65s and latest SL65s...but these '14 S65 steering wheels are simply awful....hopefully they solve this silly but important issue: steering wheel aesthetics and ergonomics are fairly critical in any car where driver uses/touches/views steering wheel extensively as part of driving expce, much like nature of sport seats ergonomics/structural integrity are huge part of driving expce and safety
Am eagerly looking fwd to S65 Coupe: its rival to beat will be SL65....newer-gen tech in S65, more structural integrity/safety of a hardtop w/higher ride ht....but dynamic disadvantages of ~700 extra lbs, higher ctr of gvty and longer wb (and a useless rear seat for 99+% of those who buy these cars as daily commuter cars)

wow, WSH. if these are your most exigent worries I wonder if you've been in a 2014 model, much less driven one. transmission with 4 matic is superb, far superior to the non4 matic in any of last years amg's. standard brakes a on amg's are always beyond reproach with perfectly satisfactory feel. steering wheel 's aesthetics are matter of taste, but functionality is fine and steering feel is much superior to my SL63. unexpected benefit is how much smaller the car drives and on sweeping turns it is as fast as the SL. the new S coupe should be beautiful, but it won't be less heavy or really smaller than S , so one has to wonder if it's handling will not be more or less similar.

in this day and time, with governmental intrusions like black boxes , congested roads, omnipresent, revenue-starved police, other than an aesthetic impulse (probably soon regretted) or a desire to flaunt, really find it more difficult to see the usefulness of such cars. I do recognize their difference, just don't see their added benefit when cars like the S63 or some of the S and RS audi's and others of this ilk offer somewhat similar performance in the real world and a towering comfort/luxury advantage.

Ceramic Brakes
Does anyone know why the ceramic brake option is not available for the S63? They have shown it in the past and it is an option on the S65.

yeah - i dont understand that either. i have the ceramic brakes option (wth the gold callies) on my '14 cls63 amg s-line. so i find it odd that they are not optioned on the new s63.
