I prefer to keep the car longer to make the depreciation per year lower rather than buy frequently a relatively new used car.

Don't worry to much about me. I'm very happy slumming it in my "mule", CLS550 which cost some dude 100k plus tax , 6600 miles and 14 months later I paid 67k.

It would be cheaper to drive the car X years if you buy it Y months old. But I would hate the feeling through out the X years how someone else had been driving the car before myself without me having any control, how it has been misused when the owner knows he/she will abandon it in Y months time anyway.

Agreed.

1) One dealer offered $5K off list for a 2 wheel drive. The 4 wheel are going for list.
2) They had 10 in stock while I was paralyzed by analysis they sold 7 in 1.5 weeks.
3) Left with Edition 1 option and at 6.5 K I will not buy that color interior at a premium cost.

That's actually a common misconception. You will not get better discounts by building a relationship with one dealer. For every dealer that will give an awesome discount to a loyal customer there's another that will do the same or better to build a new relationship. Plus once you build a relationship with a dealer and they know you will be buying all your cars from them, do you think they'll continue to shave every possible penny of profit from themselves knowing that you are not going anywhere else? Every time I buy a new car, I canvas all local dealers and price compare. And I make them all know that I am price shopping. Sometimes I get the best deal from the same dealer I got my previous one from and sometimes I get it from a place I've never done business with. It doesn't matter if I've bought 10 cars from one dealer, the very next car I look to purchase is always a free for all all out brawl to get my business from all possible dealers. With the advent of the internet, it takes almost no extra time to get bids from everywhere rather than one specific dealership. This is the only way to get the best possible deal on each and every car you buy. If one goes to the same dealership for every car he buys simply because he likes that establishment and wants to continue giving them his business, then that's perfectly fine. But don't think that that will always yield the best deal for a car.

Someone can come in here and brag that they can get 3 brand new compact cars for you used CLS. Or 10 used $6,700 Hondas or 67 $1,000 beaters etc, and that it's stupid for anyone to buy a $67k car.
Guess what genius, we all know that these cars are a huge waste of money and we all know how the depreciation game works.

People try and blame that on me, which this thread proves is clearly not the case as I haven't been here in a long time. Just lots of sour characters in this board who like to point the finger/blame at others. Another reason I went away from M-B.

Dude - You are seriously troubled.
Not everything is about you.
We are here for the cars. You seem to want to make every single thread into a confrontation.
Yes Yes, we realize - you know best. We are all wrong in our opinions and this forum should be renamed in your honor.

My experience is consistent with what I previously said. I have been loyal to my dealer and they have always given me a much better deal than what I would get at another dealer or what someone would get as a first time purchaser. As an example this summer I got my ordered GL63 at $5,000 off MSRP. For those who know the GL63 market will appreciate that was a special deal at the time. We are talking about a car that is in short supply. You can't walk into a new dealer, cut the line and get a big discount.
