What issues or problems are needing to be worked out?

Love the new S Class! Great interior and ride, 2nd to none in any price range close to it.

Now that we have had a couple months of deliveries on the streets - what issues or problems have we seen so far?

Ours is in the shop with less than 200mi on the odometer. Went in for a couple noises and they discovered a significant oil leak from the oil pan gasket. No oil pan gaskets are available so one is being sent from Germany... being told a week without our new car. Argh!

This is our first MB, not exactly a great first impression. Hope things are fine from this point forward.

Could happen on any car. Myself, I generally do not buy first year models.

I always recommend not buying or financing a first year vehicle, of course I went against my own advice since we could not go a year without a family car.

I have always avoided a first year car too...until this one. We were in a situation where we needed to change cars, otherwise it would have been smarter to wait a year.

Oh well, new model year pains...will probably never do this again.

We have heard two distinct sounds:
1) In the first 15-30 seconds after starting or moving the car we have frequently heard a mid to high pitched whine. My thinking is that it has something to do with the leveling system. We do not have MBC. This noise has been varying degrees of loudness, at times very noticeable that people would turn around to look at us. Rather embarrassing.
2) While driving through the neighborhood at slow speeds (10-20 MPH) a couple times heard a low frequency sound that seemed like it may have been a dragging brake, it varied with the speed of the car. Wasn't nearly as loud as the other sound, just concerned what is causing that dragging/rubbing sound. Very intermittent.

I don't hear any of those noises but my front seats have a slight creak/knock noise as you move around.

When I bring it in for its first service maybe they can tighten the bolts - who knows. But if you rock back and forth, you hear a knock knock knock a little bit from the seat. As if the seats are not 100% locked in place.

I haven't had any noises from the seats. Will check for that when I pick up the car after they complete this service.

The dealer is working to make us happy with our situation. They are paying for the window tint, our roof rack and another gift.

Very happy to see the dealer working to make things right without my having to push the issue, good customer service.

Sounds great. One of the other threads talks about them having some sort of budget for this kind of stuff. To keep us happy.

The budget is $2500 per car paid by MB USA to be used for customer satisfaction when problems occur. On another topic, since all lights on the new S Class are LED's, how does this affect power usage? Will the draw on the battery/alternater be less when the headlights are on, or when you have them switched on when the car is off? It would be nice to leave the various lights on a little longer with the engine off and not have to worry about draining the battery so quickly.

Got the car back and all seems to be ok. No more noises. Leak is repaired and the dealer did a bunch of extra items for us since they knew we were contemplating some extra accessories for the car and threw in a very nice set of gift cards. They are working to make us happy and try to make up for the initial mechanical issue with our first MB.

They have treated us very well and are providing good customer service in a difficult situation.

can anyone elaborate on the customer service cash ($2500) that was mentioned? I just posted on this forum about a W222 that has a software issue that the dealer cannot fix. Only 300 miles on the car so far. The dealer has been less than helpful, so the $2500 was a news item to me. See my other thread for details on what I am dealing with. Is the $2500 from MB North America or Germany? Dealer discretion? Very interesting that exists.

Hopefully, I will type the link correctly. Reported in Automobile Magazine December 3, 2013.
http://www.automobilemag.com/feature...0-each-257655/

If the link does not work, Google "Mercedes Benz Dealers Can Spoil S Class Buyers with $2500 Each". Numerous links will take you to the story.
