Do all S classes made before around now have the same problem? I have a little over a 1000 miles, but no screeching yet...

My breaks would also screech loudly when backing up. The local dealer replaced the break pads and the screeching came to a halt. It's a simple fix!

Hi Guys,
I am new in the forum and also new in the U.S

I bought a 15 S550 3 weeks ago. After 400 miles screwing noise come when I reverse.
Also a squeaking noise come when I move forward. I dont push the brakes.
The sound comes around 5 miles speed and mostly turning to the right.
Service changed rear break peds. Then screwing noise disappeared but the noise that comes when i move forward is still there.
When I go to service now we can not duplicate it. Because it does not do everytime.Because we can not duplicate it service refuse to do anything. What can i do now I dont know please help me?

MBUSA covers tires, wheel alignment & road force balancing, brake discs & pads, glass, wiper blades & inserts for 1 year / 12,000 miles (whichever comes first). You do not mention if they replaced rear discs (only pads) nevertheless, in addition to rear pads they should replace rear discs and front pads + discs as it pertains to your initial brake noise complaint confirming current part #s mentioned above on invoice.

They changed only rear peds.

They refuse to change discs and peds for front and rear now without duplicate the noise.
I showed them the video but they said they need to hear in person.
We try to duplicate it but we could not.

If you can hold off a bit longer you have 1 year/12000 miles, noise should get worse. Within warranty period together with invoice documenting initial repair attempt should justify f/r pad/disc replacement at no cost.

I have no idea if my VIN was on the list. The dealer just did this at no cost to me.

Is it normal for the car to make screeching sounds when starting the car up and backing out of the garage! The noise only happens when the car starts and is in reverse.

I believe it was the pads on all 4 wheels. I also have a slight pulsing in the brakes so they are getting new rotors in for me too.

Dealer just replaced all four sets of brake pads under warranty due to the loud screeching noise early in the morning when I was backing out of the garage. Hopefully this will fix my issue since I think people a mile away could hear me back out of my garage in the morning.

I have just dropped my S550 at the dealer. My wife and I took a long road trip over the TG holiday and returned last night. During the trip, around 10,000 miles the car started the screeching sound and even worse, it began to have brake roughness. The brakes would shake (judder I guess) at high speed light applies. I didn't want to take it to a dealer, we were on vacation in Grand Canyon Ntnl Park and heading to Texas for family get together. When I got back the car had 12,909 miles as I dropped it to the dealer. I explained the issues and hope they will cover under warranty. I know its past the 12k mark, but it would be terrible to have tried to find a dealer while we were on vacation and have to sit while the car was being fixed or perhaps wait days for parts to get ordered over the holiday. So I hope the dealer will help me out with this.

I am very surprised on this caliber of vehicle that the brakes would shake and judder at any mileage, let alone 10K miles.

The screeching sound didn't start until we went to cold climates. Here in So Cal, it is never very cold. But It is doing it now that we came back from the trip, I guess because its colder here now?

RacingBrake (RB) has low dust and no squeaking brake pads.

Hi guys. Thought I would update you all on my brake issues. I took the car into the dealer for brake judder and also squealing noise. You can read above for the situation.

I am reporting that I took the car to Mercedes Benz of Long Beach here in Southern California. The dealer was wonderful and took care of everything under warranty. Made the repair quickly and without any issues. I am VERY pleased with Raymond (the service advisor) at MB of Long Beach. I can guarantee based upon this experience I will absolutely buy my next car from them and I highly recommend them to others.

Very nice experience.
