Custom Ordered 2015 S550. Pricing?
#26
Are you kidding me...what the hell do you think the dealer is going to tell you--oh yeah we gave that kind of discount--you want it too? Come on wake up--it's a car dealer--YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK!
Have you ever bought a car over $100K?? Doesn't sound like it. If you had, you would understand discounts are based upon multiple factors (which I wasted my time in another thread answering already). Do you have a relationship with the dealer? Have you bought one there before? Are you dealing with a floor person? I mean come on. You know the dealer already, if you can't work a deal that is satisfactory to you--move on and find another one (however I have a feeling based upon your posts that maybe a futile effort).
What the heck do I give a rats a$$ if you believe it or not--would it make you feel better if I say 0%--fine. I've got better things to do than hand hold someone through the process of NEGOTIATING A $116K car. If you don't know how to work the deal--look in the mirror. If you want to call BS, that's cool too. What matters is I got my deal, my bank account is happy, and I'm enjoying my 2015 S550
Any other questions from the cry babies I can help you with?

It isn't impossible.
I got my custom ordered 2008 E550 for $1500 below INVOICE when everyone on this site told me if I paid "invoice" it would be a good deal, and $500 below would be a "great deal."
I also had a bunch of people tell me to scan my sales paperwork to prove it, but I'm hardly going to do that.

Pictures don't mean anything. I'm not saying he did not buy the car. This particular dealer doesn't have any instock '15 S550. Very hard to believe they would discount that much on something that just arrived. When I asked him for dealer contact info he doesn't respond which raises another red flag.

Just because the guy/gal you quoted has NO clue how to negotiate a deal (expects to get best price and that's it) and is worried about what others paid, then complains that he can't get the same deal--and therefore everyone is a liar I always get great deals--but knowing how to work the system and buying probably close to 12 cars in the past few years (of various flavors) helps.
Do you think the dealer is excited (wanting to give any discount) to someone who buys 1 new car every 5-6 years, or the guy he has a chance to sell 4-5 cars in a few years Lesson: EVERY DEAL IS DIFFERENT. If one doesn't like the fact that others are getting better deals, get over it, because they are.

I'm not shame to admit I'm horrible in negotiating. But I'm still young, and I have some time to grow in this area. I'm the nice guy type, and getting a deal is not nice guy territory. I've got to let the hound dog loose in me. I know he's in there somewhere. :-)

Of course it's possible--you're 100% correct.

I hate to take anyone's side in this apparent dog fight but EVERY DEAL IS DIFFERENT.
I "inked and ordered" my deal on a 2014 S550 4Matic in December when everyone seemed to be paying MSRP on S550 4Matics (that is if the dealer could even get the cars). I picked my car up in early February.
My deal was this: MSRP $115,265, my discount off MSRP was $6,425 (5.57% discount). I have a great relationship with this MB dealer and have purchased many cars from them since 1997.
Deals can be had but one needs to know how to go about it. When I inked my deal most people would swear up and down that everything was at MSRP (in fact someone said recently on this forum that all s550s will be sold at MSRP until 2015--what? That is a silly comment). There are so many variables such as dealer allocations, time of the month, the dealer selling cars at discounts to increase the following years allocations of S550s, etc. With this deal, I walked away from negotiating initially to finally getting a call from the sales manager to re-kindle the negotiation (they really wanted to sell a new car to me). With all this said, some people do not care if they pay MSRP while some people would never pay MSRP.
If one does not want to pay MSRP, go to work and find the best deal you can for ones self.

AutoNation is bad news for discounts in the Midwest. They knocked $1000 off the MSRP on the 2014 S550 I wanted to purchase back in November, but then low balled my trade by more than $1000. They laughed when I suggested they meet the local Car Max quote on my trade. I had the last laugh and ordered my 2015 S550 in Florida.

First time poster. For what its worth, I ordered my 2015 S550 before pricing was available. At the time of deposit, I negotiated $1500 off MSRP plus a 5-year maintenance plan included.
Of course, MSRP rose by $1500 for 2015, so the deal is a wash. Not sure if I can haggle anything more once car is delivered.
Also, I was notified today that the car is at the German port waiting for a ship assignment. Does anyone know approx. how long it takes to get to the dealership from this point?

Congrats on your order! You will love the new car. It is a more refined car than my car it replaced which was a '08 S550 4matic.
What part of the country do you live in (I am assuming you are in the US-but maybe not)? I am in Pittsburgh, PA. My car went from the German port of Bremerhaven (all S Class cars leave there to US) to Baltimore. Once it gets on a ship (should be within a week) it took my car 2 weeks from Bremerhaven to Baltimore, MD. Once it hit the port in Baltimore my car was at the dealer in another 1.5 weeks.

Shows what you Know. Ive purchased 25+ Vehicles in the past 5 Years. 1/2 of them were $100K+ Transactions. I know how to negotiate. Im simply asking for who you worked with over there and if their was any existing damage to your car to warrant a discount. Ive called all over Texas and the discount you claim is not possible.
Well when you see the bad as$ s550 driving around Austin with a serious discount--that's me
For someone who has bought "25" cars you should be ashamed not getting at least 5-7%....oh well.

Took a long time to decide on a vehicle. Went back and forth between an A8L, a 2-year old Bentley GT and the S550. The S just seemed to be a very comfortable car to sit in . The last Mercedes I owned was a 1998 S420. This car is so much more refined and drives less like a boat than the older one.
I'm not a brand loyalist, so if the dealership cannot help out with the price increase in some way, I've got the option to walk and look into those other two cars.
Ordered the Ruby Black with all options except the refrigerator and executive rear seat package...totalled $122,745 MSRP.

Thanks for the welcome. I am on Long Island, so I assume car will take the same path as your's did to PA.

Waiting paid off. Just picked up a MB corp owned 2015 S550V4 with 2100 miles on her. MSRP 119,990 for $86,500. I did lose 6 months of the warranty in the deal.
