So How Old (Young) are You??

At the end of the day, I really could careless what people think, but was curious as to average age here....?
before I drove an S, I recall seeing a guy with a 221 and asking him if his Grandpa knew he had his car lol.....
getting in my CLS on the weekends is such a huge difference and feels like a rocket in comparison
So I have always gotten heck from my buddies about driving the "old man's car". I do have some excitement in my life--atleast I tell my buddies. I used to race motocross/dirtbikes and still ride dirtbikes. And I have a pickup truck. So I am trying to counterbalance the old man perception. But I guess I am 48 and to my 15 year old son--I am "old". Most of my clients would never dream of me owning a pickup or riding dirtbikes. I guess I fit a number of roles!

Her logic: I'm not letting you buy a car that depreciates more then the average price of a new car in the first year

P.S: I guess on the flip side if I didn't marry a women good with money and technical skills I wouldn't be able to own a new s class anways lol. This young that is.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
not trying to be disrespectful or insulting, I just have never understood that sentiment......(been married 9 years myself, 10 this September), so I do have some clue as to what I'm talking about

Once the car gets into the 50k-70k range its a much better value to me.TBH: I'm just very happy to even have the ability to buy it new. All of my college friends that ended up in households in the 6 figures are living at home with mom and dad not working and making it

I would go with a cheaper car but i'm 6 foot 6 and boy do I fit like no other in that s class and Its just so nice

Before I was a Mercedes person - I was a BMW fan!
My first BMW was a 740iL - at age 44; followed by family cars (5 BMWs) and an M3 convertible and Z3 convertible. My last BMW was the first of the 650 convertibles - had a terrible experience (roof wouldn't close in a rain storm) and that day (the car was 6months old) traded it in for an SL500. My first Mercedes came at age 51!
Since then - an S63 (54), Cl550 4 matic (55), S550 4 matic (57), ML63 (58) and now S65 (it is one of my 60th birthday gifts).
So bottom line - age was never related to size, stature of the car!

Just trying to stay married this time.

I’ve had a handful of BMW 5 series, my E39 528i being the best & the E60 550i I just sold being the worst. My wife is on her third X5 & her Mini Cooper convertible is her summer car. The minivan is for hauling stuff to our project in northern lower Michigan.
Me, I’m 54. My original thought was to get an SL - but it just isn’t comfortable for me (tall, long torso). I've always liked the look of the S Class & think the current iteration is stunning. Once I drove it... I was hooked !
The impact was so server, that the rear bumper was pushed in to line up with the base of where the rear window is; the rear window popped out completely without a crack (the reason for the then rubber gasket surrounding the window); the spare tire was crushed into itself; the muffler was hanging out completely intact (the reason for the rubber donut hangers). Each and every door worked perfectly and the seams were in perfect alignment. The interior was unscathed and just like new.
I don't know what hit this MB or what the speed was when the incident took place, as I saw it sitting in the rear lot of a MB dealer in Dallas, and just had to stop and see it up close...
Excellent!
I was a 1974 Ford Pinto enthusiast with dents in the roof from the prior owner. The prior owner rolled the car over into a snow bank and ONLY dented the roof--did not even crack any of the glass.
The Pinto was my first car in 1980. The things I did with that car! What memories. Those were the days growing up in North Dakota.

Seriously, I just had my annual physical this morning and my doctor tells me to keep doing what I'm doing. I play tennis 2-3 times a week and compete against guys that are sometimes 20-30 years younger than me and I am either very competitive in the matches or a beat them.
PS: Unlike BeanTrader, I have the body of a 90 year old (maybe 89).
