Again, so sorry to learn that this had happened in the first place...
Im glad the chapter is closing - I don't want to take the car anywhere else - and after 14 years of no problems - I don't want to have tension.

Chucky,

Glad to hear they will take care of it.

WOW! This would have made me so mad. In fact, I am in the Pittsburgh area and get to New York City periodically. I fly mostly but take my car once in a while. In fact I have considered a purchase in the past from MB Manhattan. NO MORE. This would **** me off beyond belief. The least they can do is fix it. The fact that it appears they covered this up is simply FRAUD. I would NEVER trust them again based on what you have explained and the photos listed.

It's photoshopped and I'm very confident. I have been using the adobe tools for years. See the block that has been created. This is from editing the photo.. This is not normal.

P.S: Watch the video... I bet they may know photoshop but premiere good luck.

I'll speak with them Monday morning when I bring the car in.

I wish I paid attention in Digital Design at Parsons.

I attached the picture now. You should see what I'm seeing. Just be warned I was in a similar situation with my 98 LS 400 that does not even have a scratch. I am meticulous with my car the wife not so much but she doesn't drive my baby When I asked to see the video Lexus was like "oh, I'm sorry its been overwritten already" I then look at the camera system and say its a swann and should only re record every 7 days with 720P and the amount of cameras you have". Sure enough I raised a lot of #**# and got to see the video. Watched some guy hit the wall with my car! Upgrading to a S550 in a year or two hence my participation on this board.

Chucky, this is an incredible case of deception/fraud. I would be livid and make sure the guilty persons at that dealership responsible for this get punished.

I'm glad they are fixing my bumper. I'm a very fair person. In my life - both private and business - I've never taken something that doesn't belong to me - never overcharged for something - and I don't lie to my clients who purchase dresses. If I mess up on something - I offer to fix it. If the client isn't happy about something - I offer to fix it to their liking.

If I was not 100% sure that this damage occurred here - I'd not say a word. Since I drove from the dealership directly home (and did not randomly hit a white wall along the way) - I really would never have brought it up to the dealer since I would understand their point of view.

I know when something is our fault. My mom scuffed her A8L wheels against the curb near the house. It came back from the dealer with the scuff that was on there - and my mom wondered where it came from. But I knew it had come from her driving. I even know where it was scuffed on the pavement.

I don't need to go and fight for something if I can't be sure. I don't pick a battle unless I know I'll be in the right. To find out later you were wrong after you put up the fight has to be the most embarrassing thing in the world - and I never want to be in that position.

That's why I called the dealer to say I was certain this was on their property. It's probably one of their drivers who made a stupid mistake and had they come to me honestly - I'd say what you all would say. "Mistakes happen. Fix it - and we will call it a day" Anyone that would go nuts over something like that shouldn't be behind the wheel in NYC to begin with.

But I should have known 1 hour delay - something was up. That was my fault, and I accept full responsibility for being stupid and thoughtless.

Nevertheless - I'm glad the bumper is going to be fixed. I love the car - and take good care of it - great care actually.

Am glad you getting your bumper fixed. But I wouldn't let it end here if it were me. Its one thing if they denied it cause they were uncertain, Its another thing if they had an inclination that one of their workers did it but still denied it....and its a whole new level when they jump on a computer and edit videos.. Thats pure fraud and deception that i still refuse to believe a company such this would ever do....just can't believe it. The plot is too intricate to the point where its criminal.

Sometimes, or at some stage, one figures life is too short to bother with the dishonesty and poor behavior of others so long as you are made whole in the end. I do however, understand the sentiment.

Glad they're fixing it. It was the right thing for them to do on many levels. Let us know how the repair turns out.

I'm happy as well. I hope they know that after 14 years - I wouldn't suddenly turn dishonest and claim they damaged my car falsely.

I hope they will repair this car because they know a mistake may have happened on their part and someone didn't want to man up.

Can't blame the entire dealership on that front. I know mistakes can happen - and obviously with regards to the other claims on this thread - if it turns out to be true - that's horrible.

I personally can't attest to any of that because I'm not an expert on digital media - and thus can't put in my own opinion since I am trying to keep myself on a fact basis scenario.

One thing I'd REALLY prefer is if my loaner car doesn't have to be a C Class or GLK.

My graphic designer for my business actually came by and opened my amateur eyes.

She saw the box right away. She outlined it in red and saved it as a new file. She said he can clearly see the box put over the image...I need to speak with the dealership Monday morning when I go in with the car.

Do you guys see this?

Clearly a quick photoshop content aware job. Dealership could have done this in about less then 30 seconds.

If you can't see the square box - isn't this kind of obvious?

On the right is the dealer's photo from camera. On the left is my photo taken from a decent distance then cropped. (NOT AN UPCLOSE SHOT)

Where is my parking sensor? Or the panel seam between the fender and the bumper?

I remember years ago (talking about the 90s) staying at the Intercontinental in DC. Much like your experience, after calling for the car, which would usually take 10-20 minutes, it became 30 and 40 minutes with no car. Finally, they deliver the car. After driving away, we notice that the windshield is cracked. We knew we didn't leave it like that. After some discussion with the manager of the hotel, they finally fessed up, paid for the damage, comped the room, which was a suite, and had two great dinners at the Willard Room, which was (still is, I don't know) one of the best restaurants in DC.

What I don't understand is why they just don't fess up right away. It would have been a much better experience to tell us, hey, we messed up. Mistakes happen, but denying it makes it worse.

I have no idea. I also can't be 100% sure its a photo shop.

I wish I were an expert - however the experts tell me it is.

I printed out the pictures and will ask them on Monday why theres a square box in the picture that has a different shade of silver INSIDE the box vs outside - where is my parking censor? and where is the seam between the fender panel and the bumper panel.

All legit questions and concerns. I'd like answers.

From my eyes I also see an obvious photoshop. Even on the top of the front left air dam / bumper edge where the paint scraped there is more of a fuzzy silver paint brush like stroke in the mb Manhattan image vs a sharp edge where the air dam and bumper crease is.

I don't know why they would like and treat you like this after 14 years. A simple bumper refinish like this is dealer cost of $300 range. Not really gonna make them bankrupt. I am sure they made alot more than $300 off you in 14 years! total BS! But fraud and mistrust will cost them alot more than that eventually. I would escalate this especially being a company owned dealer and not a franchise. is this "the best or nothing"?

I hate valet / having others handle my car. I once was in ATL at the westin and my car got bb gun shot in their parking garage where the passenger window broke. The Valet service said they were not responsible, they only cover the car when they are driving it, not while it is parked and they are not inside the car. wtf? The hotel did take care of it after alot of back and forth. I hate Valets. I now hate MB of Manhattan

Unfortunately look what we have to do to get a point across, and I bet you those fools would laugh if you showed them what you found in Adobe. Not sure why they would even try to cover it up, since at the end they ended up covering the costs anyways. I hear these dealer stories and it just really keeps me from purchasing a car new from ANY dealership.

Doesnt MB Manhattan have a camera system where all around pictures of you your car are taken when you enter and leave specifically for this sort of issue?

Did they not mention that or show you the photos? Right after you leave service you stop at a red light, your car door jam sticker is scanned, pictures are taken and then the light turns green...

I am glad you are getting it fixed . I also would like to thank you to our valuable members who take their time to find out fraud in here using photoshop . Photoshop could be photoscum in wrong hands
I believe Matthew is a trustworthy guy but whoever damaged your car and the person who edited the video and another persons who is involving in this should be charged at all .That's fraud and they also put their employers name in jeopardy .This is not just lie ,this is more terrible than this
I think the driver was chickened out and seized by panic so is the video editor . If these rotten apples are not thrown away by MB of Manhattan their job and dealership could be dragged into the mud as well .
You can give a chance to these guys but is there a guarantee such a similar incident will not happen again to someone else
They already have a bad press here ,hopefully we don't hear anymore terrible mistakes from them so they should learn their lesson and owe you a big thank and gratitude

Valet parking is another story , I was gonna say that as well.
