Cup holder department stuck open
my cup holder slide 'a mi-jig is stuck in the open position and the shop tried to close it but it's stuck: they need to take the thing apart to see what the deal is
not excited.......will get a loaner as they need it overnight

guess we should be careful while opening and closing the thing
Why? what happened?

I would share your worry here. Take apart the console - and putting it back together will never be exactly as per factory standards. It isn't like a puzzle where it is either perfect or it is wrong. There is room for error with these kinds of things.
Open and close it slowly - Push back on the cover - while wiggling. Give it a shot. Tap the top of it while you are doing it.
Lastly - ride over a bumpy road while trying to open/close the console door. Any of the above may unjam it.
thanx for the advice: I canceled the appointment too: why should the dealer benefit from tearing the center console apart? leaving me with rattles, premature electronic issue's etc.....if it doesn't come open.......I'd rather just leave it.......versus handing it over to the techs LOL.........
sad really

I tend to agree with you on having mechanics/techs work on your car as little as possible.
Since I am picky about my cars, it seems that when I have someone work on my car there appears to be another issue that appears. Even when my '14 S550 4matic was delivered new, someone at the dealership used a buffer improperly and put swirl marks in the new obsidian black paint. Instead of taking it back to get them to fix it, I buffed it myself with my orbital buffer to get rid of the clear coat haze and the swirl marks they created. Sometimes I have complained like the time on a previous S class I made them replace my tan floor mats when I took the car in for a complete detail for $250 and my floor mats were dirtier then when I took it to them for a complete detail.
