Since the Maybach brand has been created as a sub-brand of Mercedes, just like AMG, I expect that we'll see a whole slew of interior/exterior choices of the S-Class sedan to come, along with more Maybach versions of other models.
The S-Class coupe and S-Class convertible seem obvious next choices.

I read that they focus particularly on the paint quality so that issues like on Terminators' S65 wouldn't happen. Of course, it shouldn't on a S65 or a S550 for that matter.

Very interesting. Thanks. So a couple of things:

1) Rear bench is standard
2) "Pillow Button" rear seats are optional
3) Chrome wheels shown are optional
What I find strange is that if you get the Maybach without options it really isn't any different than a S600 except for the length. Makes me believe they won't release longer wheelbase S600/550 or else who would buy Maybach except those that want status?

Mitch,

It is an interesting point as depending on final pricing the Maybach premium may not be that much once you add in included options...$25K or so. Certainly a far cry from previous Maybach strategy.

so my dealer has both the maybach and the s600. sitting on the floor side by side. both are within a few $ of each other (~$190,000) the way they are configured. for the life of me, i cannot figure out why they are priced so similarly (i am talking benzo product development mix here -- not "check-the-box" options pricing. duh). and further, why you would buy the s600 when for (roughly) the same price - you get the extra yumyums with the maybach? i must not be alone here as that s600 has been sitting there on the floor with a battery tender hooked up () for 6+months, and ive seen two maybachs rolling round my neighbourhood recently.

The 2015 S600 rear seat can recline Maybach style too. Granted the interior on the maybach is indeed stepped up a notch - but does it warrant the premium price?

I see what you mean about having the option of a front seat passenger (which makes sense). However, logistically - does this make sense? The passenger in the back seat passenger side is the VIP. What I am trying to get at here is that if you look at it in the big picture - what scenario is the back seat passenger lounged out while someone is also in front seat. Bodyguard in front? Certainly not a spouse...Certainly not a child. Get where I am going? Anyway, just a sunday evening Ramble.

The interiors are exactly the same. The picture you have is with the Designo package on the Maybach which you can get on the normal 600 as well.

???

The Maybach is a longer car for one plus the leg rest is available driver side rear as well.
There are also other changes on the car but as stated before, the Maybach is a bargain by any measure...

I think he might mean that the semi-aniline leather of the Maybach is also available on the S600, on the entire S-Klasse line in fact. I'm considering forking up the $8K on my 2018 S550e to get that titanium leather option...

Yeah, I'm just saying the materials and color packages are taken from the base car.

Definitely get the exclusive nappa leather! It's a huge step. Sit in the S600 or S65 which has the exclusive nappa as standard and then sit in the a normal S550 or S400 to see the difference. It's far more luxurious and is more on the level of a RR Ghost, if not better.

The exclusive nappa also gives you the suede headliner and nappa leather pretty much everywhere including the lower portions of the door and dashboard. You also get the cool cross stich like pattern on the dash and door (I'm not completely sure if it's only for V12 cars). You also extra veneer application across the doors and the materials are far better.

The picture which you sent and want is the Designo package which is one better than the exclusive nappa! It's far more extravagant. If I had the option of specing my two 600s i would have definitely have added it in!
