NEW S550: NO CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT???
While waiting for my new S550 sedan to be built and shipped, I rented a new 2015 Chevrolet Impala LTZ for about a month. One very cool feature was that when you put the car in reverse, a system identified objects that were headed towards crossing your path, such as other vehicles, pedestrians, etc. A red flashing light came on the camera monitor, showing the location of the approaching object and an audio alarm sounded. The system was very handy for backing out of blind driveways, especially at night. The system was called a Cross Traffic Alert and I was just SURE that my new S would have an even better one, but I have yet to find it. Can it be that a lowly Chevy has a system that trumps MB for safety, or am I doing something wrong?

Some of these type of features are much cooler in other brands than Benz... For example the impala and another gm... The caddy xts will apply the brake if you're backing up into something that's coming your way
The Infiniti does this too ... Benz has a bit of a way to go, but I think Benz distronic is superior than other brands

I was actually very impressed with the Impala. It's no S550 and not even an E350, but it was solid, performed well and for thirty some thousand dollars, a truly excellent car.
Anyway, I'm very disappointed that my new $115K+ ultra luxury car has been solidly TROUNCED by a Chevy, even if it's just in this one area. "The Best or Nothing?" It would appear that in this case, the answer from Germany is NUTHING--VEE KNOW NUTHING!!

In MB's defense,in some states I don't remember name of them you are equally being charged by an attempt of man slaughtering when you back up and hit someone . I think engineers in Detroit thought hard way to prevent this from happening because of US laws
