Traffic sign assist inoperable
All other systems that seem to rely on the same cameras work ok. But not traffic sign assist.
Can anyone help ?

The system may be either functionally impaired or temporarily unavailable if:
- visibility is poor, e.g. due to snow, rain, fog or spray
- there is glare, e.g. from the sun being low in the sky
- there is dirt, ice or misting on the windscreen in the area of the camera
- traffic signs are hard to detect (dirt, ice, snow)
- there is insufficient illumination of the traffic signs in the night
- signs are ambiguous (e.g. traffic signs on construction sites or in adjacent lanes)
- the information in the digital street map of the navigation system is incorrect or out of date

Forums of all car brands look the same as every car will have something that either won't work right or is disliked.
But more electronics means more can go wrong. Since you are under warranty, this should be easily fixed...

Traffic signs are typically speed limit/end-of-speed limit signs, no passing signs etc.
Since the assistant uses both navigation and traffic sign recognition, it may have been disabled due to missing nav data (do you have the Indian Nav data loaded?) and the signs must look the same as in the database. I remember seeing some signs like in Europe and then several that appear Indian.

realized it was in a different country (India)
Going to the India dealer isn't that easy. The UK dealer told me not to take it there for arleast a year, because the India dealer will report the car as taking away from India sales and reports it to Merc. That gets the UK dealer in trouble. And the UK Dealer hooked me up with a sweet full option customized S Class.

Most likely it never worked in India. SLA needs backup data from the navigation database and if that is missing, it does not work even if the camera properly detects traffic signs.
VladimirCDI sells a CAN filter that "enables" SLA for countries that do not have speed limit info included in the navi database. Not sure how it behaves on an S-class, I know W204 shows the speed limit only momentarily which is hardly of any use.

Same for a lot of little functions like "spotlighting" etc etc.
Does anyone have an electronic tool to do such things - anything out there?
For example Porsche has "Durametric" - anything like that for the S Class?
