Is there supposed to be a wood cover over the cup holder area?

Is there supposed to be a wood cover over the cup holder area?
Hi,

In all the brochures I see a wood cover in the area over the cup holders. My 2015 S550 has wood at the top, but the cubby or cup holder area is open.

Is this only for the S600 or something? In the S550 brochure it always shows this area completely covered in wood.

Sorry for being dense, but I don't get it. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Its folded back and retracted. Its easy to miss.

i wouldn't be surprised. Most of the people here know more than the salesperson that's trying to sell the car...

When i got mine i couldnt find it either, i was like wtf, but then my friend was checking out my car and found it, same thing with ashtray, i was like "where am i going to put my phone, but then he just pushed under the ac buttons and it just came out

Yep! Gotta say that whole area of the car is one intriguing piece of packaging. I wonder what other hidden trap doors and compartments are hidden in there!

It's that small container that looks like it came from a spaceship. Should have been sitting in one of the cup holders.

I think mine is broken, I tried pulling and pushing the wood cover it will not retract, any ideas how to fix

As stated, a light push towards the touchpad should unlock it and close. I have seen people press it so hard that it gets stuck or goes off track. If that is the case, try to move it up and down (very lightly). If that doesn't work its time for the shop. Factory warranty would cover that...

Thanks Guys I got it to retract, I was pulling on the wooden piece by ashtray, didn't realise it was towards touchpad.
