S550
What are the must options for S550?
In your opinion, what are the must options when buying S550? Also something to consider if selling the car 2-3 years down the road.
I am considering getting the following:
Porcelain/Black Premium Nappa Leather
Distronic
Sport Package
Rear heat / cold seats package

I'd add the Heads Up Display, I find it useful, and I think 2015 is the first year its available. Navigation instructions are displayed there.....which lane to be in, your next turn and distance to turn....time to reach your destination. Keeps your eyes on the road instead of the map in dash. Relatively inexpensive at $990.00.

Surround view camera is nice, I have a very tight garage and use it everyday. Plus, the front of car is low, nice to use when parking and you have a wall in front or low curb you can't see. Saves scratching up the underside of your front bumper. And, it is one of the nicer ones, had them on a few BMW's. You get two pictures in your display, one of the car from above and thats the surround pic, then another pick of your direction, have it in reverse and you get a picture of rear, have it in Drive and you get a picture of front.....next to the surround pic. It's one of the better ones I have used and seen compared to friends cars.

I agree that the Surround view camera is great. It makes parking easy. I hope to never damage my wheels again. I like Distronic. it keeps me in the flow of traffic. However if I space out I can find myself boxed in behind a slow poke. Consider the comfort box. It seems like a small thing but I like it very much.

Can anyone who has listened to both really hear a $6,400 difference between the stock Burmester and the 3D sound package? I can't, but those rotating tweeters are way cool.

The difference between Burmester and Burmester 3D is huge. Even the subwoofer in the boot and the 2 speakers in the middle of the car from Burmester 3D retrofitted to the lower Burmester makes a huge difference. If you are an audiophile, plan on listening to lots of music, or want to a decent amount of mileage on the car then I would recommend it. You will probably get around $1,000 or $2,000 back on Burmester 3D.
Options I would recommend include Distronic, 360 degree camera, rear seat package if its LWB and you're taking family around with you, and personally I'd get the sport/AMG Line.

With the Burmester if you really crank it, your legs from you knee down get a numb feeling, especially if you crank it for a long time. Get out of your car after that and it makes walking interesting...like your feet have fallen asleep. I suppose its that base in that space under the dash.

Who did the demo for you on the Burmester sound systems...did you do that at a dealership? My feeling is there is a difference, not so sure it's a 6K difference. I like mine and would do it again. Having said that I have friends with custom systems in their cars that sounds as good if not better than the Burmester. I have a custom system in a Ford Pickup truck that sounds great.

2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...
In order of importance, at least to me:
1. Driver's Assistance Pkg.
2. Exclusive Nappa Leather interior.
3. Surround View Camera. Can't remember if this is an option or standard.
4. Warmth & Comfort Pkg.
5. And I know I am going to get S-it for this: NOT going for optional wheels, but getting the standard 18" wheels.
6. Magic Body Control. Probably not much better than the old ABC, but ABC was wonderful and if MBC is just as good, it's great.
--but pricy.
Correction: make #4 the last item.

I think if you get 4 matic you can not get Magic Body. Th surround view is a $900 option and worth it.
I also purchased the comfort package. for the front but not the back because there are only 2 of us and I drive. That is a must have to me.
The sport package was 6500 but I think the car looked nicer so I sprang for it.
I suggest you use the build tool on mbusa.com you can play and build tha car you want and save it. for each option you can see a description and a price. if you click on the ? they have a description and sometimes a movie.
my 2 cents. hope it helps.

my car came with these options. here is how i would rank them in importance:
1. 4matic
2. premium 1 package
3. distronic
4. warmth and comfort
5. exclusive nappa leather (such an upgrade over the other two offerings)
6. surround view cameras
7(a) sport package and 7(b) +1 (20" multi-spoke wheels)
8. comfort box
9. locking wheel bolts
1-5 were a must for me; the rest not so much. i don't find value in the $6k sport package and abhor the idea of spending money for which i find no value but to be honest after having the car for a fortnight now, the sport package - esp with those upgraded 20" wheels - just make the look. ive got religion! haha.
i would not have objected to the head's up display if the car came with it. i have it on my m4 and love it. but is it worth $990? (back to the value question).
i guess the only thing that bothers me about the options content packaging of the 15 s550 is that a heated steering wheel is not *standard* equipment on a s-class, and you need the warmth and comfort package option to get it. something wrong with that in a car of this calibre and rubs me the wrong way; it's not even offered as a stand-alone option. should be standard. shrug.

That is correct you can not get 4Matic if you get magic body. That is why the AMG S65 is not 4Matic. The Amg sport package is nice but get wheel and tire insurance if your dealer offers it because the wheels are expensive to replace. The 360 camera is nice as well. If you want parktronic you have to get it anyway. Designo leather interior is nice as well really steps up the look of the interior.

S550 Coupe, S63 Coupe and S65 Coupe are selling at MSRP or pretty close because they are tough to get. We have a really nice optioned out S550 Coupe in matte cashmere white in our show room we got last week. Most likely it will be sold this week. They do not last long as I am sure you know.
