Will it stop by itself?
I admit to being chicken to test it myself.
I know that with the distronic plus in traffic, it will stop before hitting the car ahead of me.
But driving around town, without the distronic on, will it avoid a collision with the car in front of me? I got close enough once that it started beeping and made the brakes 'magic', but I manually stopped.
Will it stop if a pedestrian walks in front of it, while traveling at slow speed? The manual seems to indicate so, but I can't find any family that wants to show of the new feature.

And how does it handle crossing objects, say at an intersection?
I have read the manual, but it doesn't seem very clear.
Any clarification would be appreciated!

Why don't you want to leave Distronic on? I don't wish to take any risks so I've just left distronic on 24/7 and it has helped me on numerous occasions.
Thanks

It seemed to let me scare the **** out of an older lady who almost whacked the car with her cane.
DISTRONIC PLUS with Steer Assist
BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist
PRE-SAFE Brake with Pedestrian Recognition
How do I know which systems are in my car? (I know the distronics is there)
Now all I need to test is a willing pedestrian.

Maybe a full size scarecrow on a long breakable pole.
