Have a '16 65 Coupe sitting at LA port since 7/26/15
Am told it's some EPA/DOT certif delay; allegedly to be resolved by Wed-Thu this wk
S-Class are brilliantly engineered but suspect compensation at MBUSA has zero incentives for timely builds/shipping/deliv of high-margin cars to real customers...thus the amusing ineptitudes/absurd delays, all while latest-gen S-Class tech is obsoleting/decaying
DAI needs to achieve closer to AAPL launch/deliv pace, esp given both share 2yr lease/life spans before obsolete/used crap is irrelevant to any affluent US customer....and needs to be shipped to poors elsewhere anyway (at a far different price/profit)

thought it was August 1rst?
seems absurd to hold them so long.....getting dirtier and dirtier.......and we all know how dealers 'detail' cars before delivery.....
plus, there was a guy over on the w212 that has his '16 wagon already

It just depends on where they will sit getting dirty.
S Class cars are not selling like they thought they would in the US--atleast for the month of July. In July 2015 only 1414 S class cars were sold as compared to July 2014 where 1920 S class cars were sold in the US. This is a 26% decline in July year over year. Many dealers have lots of inventory of 2015 S class cars. They are trying to sell '15s before release of '16s so this has more to do with the S class vs '16 e class wagon.
For example, Fletcher Jones in Newport Beach, CA has 162 2015 S550s right now. I am sure they do not want to add any 2016s until they pull that number down abit. I believe MBUSA also had 2015s sitting at the ports to be pulled into dealer inventory. Supply/Demand is the issue I think.

I attribute this to dealers only ordering black or white cars. What the heck.

I don't know if this reflects changes to actual release, but as of today (Sat. Aug 8) MB is showing the new prices and my 2016 for the S Class. I also noted a change to the Mbrace packages. They are now broken into 4 and the MBrace Connect package now includes 5 years free as opposed to 6 months for my 2015.
