Cabin Fragrance System and other thoughts at 10K miles.

Almost at 10K miles on my new S550 and am still loving the car. I still look forward to time behind the wheel.

Two problems, my cabin fragrance system and the door locks. My cabin fragrance system just does not work. I'll see what they say when I take it in for service this coming Tuesday. I have checked the settings and that is not the problem. What I'd like to know from others is how much time does it take to empty a bottle once you put it in the holder. The level on my bottle, which is the bottle in it when I drove it off the dealers lot has not moved at all. So, 6 months and 10K miles and no change in the fluid level?

Second problem is the door locks. There are times they work as intended and times when I have to pull keys out of pocket and unlock doors with key fob because no matter where I place my hands on door handle (or how much pressure I use) the door will not unlock. The only way to do it is with the key fob. Have to use key fob about 50% of the time. Real pain in the ***. Hey I know.....S550 drivers have it so hard!

Other than that, great car and really happy. Any information on cabin fragrance is greatly appreciated. Searched to see if there was another thread on this and could not find, sorry if this topic has been beat to death already. Thanks in advance.

i can't adequately address the cabin air fragrence system; i always have it shut it off.

i do have the occasional issue with the locks, too. but my bmw does that also so i just chalk it up to either 1/ the quirkiness of the keyless go system in general or 2/ my ineptitude of touch given i fail to successfully unlock the cars with both brands. :/

I picked up my S550 on 5-1-2015 and have my cabin fragrance set on hi. I only once in a while smell it and have used about 1/2 of the bottle.
I have never had a problem opening the doors with the touch door handle.

I had a complete failure of the Keyless Go system both on the doors and in the ignition. Took it in and they said the control module failed. It was replaced. The whole diagnosis and replacement took only a few hours. Works well now. It was intermittent for a couple of weeks before failing completely.

Have never had a problem with our door handles locking or unlocking.

It has been two years and 10k miles for us and we are still on our first fragrance bottle. We have it set on low. Bottle appears to be half full still.

Silly question- but do you have the fragrance system turned on? Of note- I noticed that I was no longer smelling mine after quite some time so I took the bottle out, checked it and replaced it. I put it on high (normally on low) and after a trip or two I started noticing it again.

As far as the door handles it sounds like either you have a hardware issue or interference issue. Do you keep your phone in the same pocket as your key? That will cause all kinds of issues.

I have no issues with our cabin fragrance system. It works really well. I believe there's a protective cover on the dispenser that needs to be removed first.

I am having the same issue with the door locks. Most time they work as intended but at times they do not. I've never had to use the key fob but just keep fiddling with the handle until it works. I have about 8K miles on my car and the fragrance dispenser is down only slightly. I have noticed that the fragrance is very subtle, probably as intended. Other than the door locks haven't had any issues. The car is a delight to drive. I have two other MB vehicles and can't wait to get back into the S whenever I drive them. It is truly a special car.

When I first got my car my key would sometimes not allow me to lock the car by touch and sometimes not even start the car. I had to take the start cover off and insert the key and turn manually. The dealer told me to bring both sets of keys in. He changed the fob batteries and somehow used both to reprogram them. I haven't had a problem since then.

My Air Balance is on Low. After one year, the bottle is half full. It only smells intermittently, though.

I am one of the few people here who really like the fragrance system. I fill mine with my own cologne. I too have noticed that it doesn't work anymore. I mentioned it when it was serviced and all they said was there was no fault code. So make them see if they can smell it when it first starts up. I do know that you can get used to a fragrance and not notice it but I've always been able to notice mine. I use Tom Ford Tuscan leather and I used to notice the cigar smell and remember my grandfather who always smoked a cigar after dinner.

I leave mine off and when desired turn it on high(3) and then turn it off after a few minutes. It clears out any odors and then dissipates. I also leave the ionization on all the time. The system works great!

I also like the fragrance system (don't know I would have ordered it if it was a separate option). I am also ready to fill my bottle with my cologne when it is empty but it appears it may be a year or so.

I third that. I find the fragrance system a very pleasant option. I always have it turned on, usually at the medium level.

Just happened to me in my 99 kompressor and I can't even turn to on or anything. Key inserts and won't turn. Unlocks door, locks door, and open close Windows except for the sunroof. I'm going to order a key and take it to WI Simonson or DTLA since i have roadside in my policy. I can't even test with the spare cause I misplaced it and can't remember where I left it. Here's to hoping it is the key.

Do you just refill the jar with regular alcohol.based cologne. Too bad Mercedes-Benz doesn't offer just the solution to refill.but then the stealers, oops dealers couldn't charge 102 for this.

Does anyone know what the cabin fragrance system uses to supply the fragrance? Is it a natural oil or is it more of a chemical? I tend to prefer natural oils.

Also I'm sure the system includes an air ionizer. Would the air ionizer take away what the fragrance system is putting out? Unless I am mistaken the ionizer actively removes various odors from the air.

I spoke with mbz customer care and they said you could use anything BUT oils.

For those earlier posters with keyless go problems; I just got my car back from its first A service and they included a software update for the keyless go. I have never had any problems with it but guess quite a few have?

3. Eliminated Star
This is the most painfull one .
all 2017 e class has this awesome feature of having scent and more to switch scents and even place your own one . BUUUUUT : we we gont the car i set setting on HIGH and during whole time having a car me nor my GF ever can smell scent , not even a slight shadow of it . If we take in mind that MB spend so much for developing those scents and emplimented in MB is big deal , and there a was Huge presentation about it , i went to dealership and asked them to check the system and despencer if its working.
They had my car for like 3-4 hours , returned back and said all working fine , no error codes in system , and guy said we not suppose to smell it like regular fragrance and it releases mist in "random" ((
We are not stupid and not crazy people , we never could smell it , ever .
So i went online to MB and bought different scent , drove for few days , still no scent , not even slightest .
Please can someone conform that you can smell the scent , even a little bit. On amazing there is reviews , that people say they can smell it and its great .
Thank you for attention .

I have tried two different fragrances. Even on high, the sent is very subtle. Not certain I would want any stronger.
Obviously need to.make certain settings are correct, as they are a bit confusing. Overall I.like the feature.
