I got my update. My advisor said that I was the first to ask for a map update. ?? I no longer have confidence in the service department. I didn't get my paperwork reflecting the update. I probably don't get a satisfaction survey. I had a loaner, but 8 days is ridiculous.

this is crazyness. I bought my audi S3 last november [yeah you guys probably **** on audi] and am here looking to find out what the S class experience is like since my next car will likely be a full sized luxury car and I quite like the S class. mb tech is eons worse than audi apparently. my map upgrades are free and I can download them to an sd card whenever they are available for upto 5 updates. saw elsewhere where someone said the google earth function is turned off after the mbrace trial expires. thats insane. I added my car to my cell phone plan [att] for a net of 11 bucks extra a month. 4G lte in car with its own sim [and apparently phone number] and wifi which is painless to use. all the tech in my audi I expected would be in the S class for sure since its a much more prestigious car but from what I am reading mb is not doing a good job tech wise which disappoints me and I am sure you current owners. 300 bucks for a damned usb stick? wow. the A8 scares the crap out of me reliability wise which is probably why off lease versions are so cheap but Audi destroys mb for tech without doubt. I love my S3 but its not a cruiser which I know I will want here soon. I hope what I read here in the near future is more promising.

Audi Tech vs. S Class Tech
I came from an 2012 Audi A6 to the S550 because I wanted a bigger car. The S was a nice change, but the navigation and connectivity is behind Audi. The S has the best in luxury features. The new E class may be more current.

Just completed the A-Service on my 2015 and was told no map updates available. Current version installed is 4.0 (2014/2015). Does anyone have the part number for v7.0 or the name of a dealer here in Houston that has performed the update?

I just picked up my car Wed for some warranty issues they are still working on and asked about the nav update. She said the update had "issues" and hasn't worked on any model they tried to update?? They also told me my Histrionic lane keeping wasn't working due to an "outside influence"???

Never heard those things before but I'd want to know if those things were dealer service real acted issue or in general all W222 MB's? My update took some time but successful and my *histrionics* were not a problem

Park Assist and Lane Keep Drunken Salor ...

I have never tried the park assist but I should soon. I got the car last year it was CPO'd in Boston but a lot of stuff was missed. I picked it up Wed and drove to the mountains Thursday and the Distronic seemed to be working better on the way up. Mine appeared AFTER the dealer appt. which included updates and code checking.

Thank you Docsout. I found that the dealer at Greenway Plaza has version 7 and will take my car there. I must stay I am baffled by the lack of interest/knowledge/ability of the dealer.

Do they raise the number so high on the update to make the owners think that the maps are that much out of date?

I just had my 2015 S65 Nav updated yesterday at the dealer. The car had the as delivered 2014 map edition. About 2 months ago I had the dealer install all the software/firmware issued updates on my car There are more on the 2015 than the 2016. They could not at first get the new Nav update to install, it turned out there were two more firmware updates that had to be installed before the Nav update.
The current version as of yesterday is 2016 V7.0.

I did not see where they post the versions, this is my 1st update. Dealer wanted $350- + $150- labor.... For what it is, this pricing is way out of line for what it is, then again, its MB.
Since I'm pretty much a local driver, (within 100 Mi. of home) I think every 2 to 3 year updates would be sufficient for my needs. They don't have many new roads in the NY area that most people would realize the benefit.
I truly believe that why they have a big jump in version numbers to make you think your updates are that old.
Lets say they do an update every quarter and they start at 2.0 for 2014.
2014 2.0 - 2.1 - 2.2 - 2.3
2015 2.4 - 2.5 - 2.6 - 2.7
2016 2.8 - 2.9 - 3.0 - 3.1
Its just my belief unless it can be substantiated another way.
If I was to inquire about a map update, 2.0 to 3.1 does not look so bad...
2.0 to 7.0.... Things that make you go Hmmmmm...
