2015 vs 2016 - whats new, different wheel-bases
Hi guys, I purchased a 2016 C-class in a quick whim, while its a really really nice car, enjoyed it for last 2 months, but now I am tempted to buy an S-class, so help me get educated fast.
One:
What are the specific changes to a 2016, as I dont want to miss out on something big (in efforts to save a few).
Two:
There are couple of chassis that appeal to me: S550e, S550 4Matic, as well Maybach 600. I am leaning towards S550 4Matic, since its bit wallet-friendly (but if it really comes to it, I will get a Maybach). However what are the specific difference in "wheel-bases". Like, is the Mayach (apart from being a v12) on a longer wheel-base chassis (and 550 4Matic is on a shorter chassis)?
Three:
I really love the Maybach 20" exclusive forged wheels ($3900 option), is there way to order them on a 550 4Matic chassis (i dont see it as an option)?
Four:
What is "exclusive trim" (a $950 option)?

others on this board who are more knowledgeable than me will hopefully post their comments, but to my knowledge....
1. only changes from '15 to '16 I know of are new designed wheels and displaying posted speed zones on dash
2. not sure on differences between chassis of models you mentioned, I have a S550V4 and love it, for me there are not enough differences to justify the added cost of the more expensive models
3. you can probably order those wheels from MB or find them on the secondary market as people sometimes take them off and exchange for custom wheels
4. nappa exclusive trim is a "diamond stitched" pattern of the nappa leather, exclusive trim is a few added leather surfaces on the doors

Steinhart: Thank you for the information. I would be happy to get an S550 as long I can get Maybach wheels .... I dont see those exact kind being sold on ebay or internet, seems like dealer is the only option. Also I wonder if someone here has an official Dealer Guide that lists the exact details for MY16 changes.
LovinMercedes: Yes, Maybach would be a significant upgrade for me. I have actually shunned automotive purchases (viewing them as silly, except my RV which is 135k) and instead have focused on upgrading my homes, but now being a 36 yr old and having already achieved my reasonable lifetime goals, I felt its time to get into a better car

Upgrade to the Maybach would appear a huge step up and probably unnecessary unless the additional rear-seat space is desired. The car has Maybach-Only interior bits and additional insulation beyond the the S600. Not a car a driver would buy (even though I like the looks of the body) as the focus is on the rear compartment.
That said, the Maybach wheels are exclusive to the car and can only be purchased as take-offs for from the dealer.
Personally I find the wheels boring at best; they are a flashback to the S600 wheels of the W220 model in 2000. Worst looking wheels when curb rash occurs...
Another (small) change to the 2016 S-Class is that the car features NFC and offers remote start feature via smartphone app. There is a potential for a real keyless option (via NFC) but that is still unlikely as MB is extremely slow to adapt features even if the hardware is in the car for years.
Starting Dec.15 build-dates, MB's companions app can be used for full end to end navigation

Well you know I was thinking it too.
In the spirit of the holiday season - I will not ponder another minute how someone buys a C Class then contemplates replacing it with a Maybach.
It's mother's birthday on December 29 - I have narrowed down the restaurants to two.
Burger King or The Four Seasons on Park and 52nd.
Tough call.

I am leaning towards the following
S550 4Matic chassis
Burmester 3D (6900)
Driver Assist (2800)
Sport/AMG (5900)
Premium (4500)
Warmth Comfort (2600)
Headsup (990)
Exclusive trim - I need to think

You have to realize there is zero cross-shopping going on between the C-Class and the Maybach; only a troll, a fifteen year old or a person with VERY unique requirements would post this. So its up to you to make this believable...

Oh god, first just open your narrow mind ... are you even hearing yourself by that foolish statement ... 'zero cross-shopping'
Secondly, even ignoring your foolish statement, I am not shopping for either a Maybach, OR a C-class. I am here shopping for a S550 or a Maybach. Just because my signature has an existing C-class, what makes you believe that I am cross-shopping, what makes you believe that it is trolling, what makes you believe that it is wrong ... you know you are an IDIOT. Get lost from my thread, people like you make me puke.

Never could understand why people fake a life on the internet - as if anyone gives a crap what car you drive. You trying to prove something to yourself? That's just so sad.
As Donald Trump would say "A lot of people tell me, you're a low energy loser. Frankly, you are not a terrific person".

Just asked a reasonable question. Poster said he bought a C class - and wants to upgrade it to a Maybach.
He can't be serious.
