2015 ECU W222 and Autostart & Possible Reset? Compared to a 2016

I had a 2016 S550 4Matic loaner. Immediately, when i pushed on the gas pedal, it took off instantly. There was no hesitation or delay compared to my 2015 4matic. It was in the same modes both eco and comfort mine was. It was like a different vehicle. I know its a year newer with 6K less miles but I mean i come on. This 2016 was like a rocket compared to mine and even more so in sport mode. Mine feels like a sluggish pig compared to. The whole car just felt more sporty. I and o have the sport package. Same identical cars just one is one year newer.

I also notice my autostart stop is much more abrupt than the 2016 I drove. I barely noticed the 2016 it all it was that good. Mine shakes/startles the car, so I can understand why people want to turn it off.

So my question is, is this just a simple ECU software upgrade or do I need a 2016 ECU and would that work? Is there a ECU reset that might help fix it? I heard some benz can do ECU reset but this model is new to me. Is there a turn off all stability and traction systems? Like hold down a certain button or combination of buttons for 10 secs etc?

If you have KEYLESS GO do not remove the Start button.
1. Press Start button twice. This sets it to key position 2.
2. Floor gas pedal for 10 seconds.
3. Press Start/Stop once. This turns it OFF.
4. Release gas pedal and wait two minutes.
5. Then start the engine and begin driving.

The reset works well but only clears learned transmission shift patterns it picked up from past driving behavior.

It should feel refreshingly responsive though

In general, the engine in the 2015 should be a touch faster/better performing than the 2016 unless the engine was run in by a 90 year old driving 35 miles an hour.

Engine performance typically increases from new and there no changes between the 15 and 16 model. Ilf there truly is a marked difference in performance, there is an issue and you should have it checked out.

Only drive in Sport which starts in 1st gear. That also disables the worthless ECO start/stop. The only way I drive that car.

Good luck!

My car was delivered with 15 miles, had this annoying lag when starting from stop and assumed it was normal until I did the reset, which completely removed the lag

Interesting to see that do anything on a new car. Maybe just crap data. The reset never lasts but you can always reset again.

Thanks everyone! I tried it but I noticed very little difference. I'm assuming it would have to re-learn my habits? Sport mode however is another animal. The 16 drove in eco mode like mine does in sport, but theres still a lot of pedal movement before its start moving even in sport mode. It almost feel like it needs a throttle adjustment or something. Its not until 3/4 or WOT until it really starts moving. It feels bogged down. I can tap the throttle a little and the rpm won't even move and it feel more stiff or harder to move than the 16 was. As I'm reading this to myself, it all sounds crazy, but there is something either with the hesitation/lag or pedal adjustment. Like Wolfman said, maybe it was a 90yrold who drove it and never went over 35 in it.

Bring it in for service and have them compare the two. If there is a big difference, there is likely an issue

Is there a trans reset for the 2019 W222?

I found the following for a 2016 S class in the Forum:

"1) Get in your car and close the door
2) Push the Keyless Go button twice to turn the electronics on (DON'T start the engine)
3) Step on the gas pedal all the way to the floor and hold it there for 15 seconds
4) Push the Keyless Go button once
5) Take your foot off the gas pedal
6) Sit and wait 2 minutes (DON'T push any buttons in the car)
7) Open the door
8) Close the door and start your car as usual and you should feel a more responsive transmission when you drive

You realize you resurrected an old thread from 2016 to ask your question about the 2019 car. A better approach would have been to start a new thread with your question as the subject and then link this old thread as part of the post. Also, you could have tried the procedure outlined in these threads (seem similar) and reported if it had any effect on your 2019 car. I found myself distracted why somebody was getting a 2016 loaner in 2021 rather than the true subject of the thread.

I can attest to this working really well on my S63 which was bogged down similarly until a reset was performed.

its also helpful to perform the Italian tuneup from time to time

Disagree, I found the whole thread quite useful.
