I have S550 4matic 2015. It has every option but the magic body control on it. I bought it CPO in North Carolina, but I live in Florida. The car is absolutely wonderful. Comfortable, fast, quiet. Only thing I have a problem with is that I have been at the dealer 22 bloody times in 13 month period! This does not mean 22 things went wrong with the car, but 22 times I was there. Usually, I would wait for 2 or 3 things to be wrong with it so I can kill 2 (or 3) birds with one stone. It has been an absolute disappointment, and my car has been in the shop for more than 70 days in the past year.

I spoke with Mercedes corporate and they offered me 2K towards the purchase of a new car, which is a spit in the face really. I would be losing 20K just to get out of this one (hello S-Class depreciation!) and the lemon law does not apply since Florida and NC do not cover used cars. Federal Lemon Law does apply but that way I can only recover damages and not buying back the car.

Does anyone have any ideas?

What a disappointment! For what it is worth I have not had any issues with my 2015. I would ask MB what the last person sold the car. Did they have problems. Was it a Lemmon return? If it was do they have a oblagation to tell you?

Is there a chance that they fixed this issues? If yes you will love the car

speak to dealer manager where you bought it, maybe they can do something?

I have a 2015 S550 that I leased new. Other than a rough idle that was fixed a few months after I got it, the only irritating problem has been the frigging glass roof that pops and creaks. Otherwise, the car has been pretty flawless in its operation. Please tell us what problems you have had/are having.

More importantly, how many MILES have you put on it in that time?

Our car has been trouble free apart from a couple of software updates in the beginning. Which wasn't worth mentioning; small stuff...

This is the first S-Class that I have heard of with that many service issues. I wonder what those are in detail and how they are related to one another

Sounds like a flood damaged car or something. My 2015 has been pretty good so far, just had to replace a battery. Aux. Batteries going after 2 or 3 years is fairly common.

Happy with my S550
I have a S550 4matic for 2 years now and today got the service B18400 miles and am happy with it. Got the latest map ver 10.0 also while the car was being serviced and love it.
Seems like you got a dud. Like others have suggested speak with the dealer who sold it and maybe come to a settlement. I feel your frustration as I would have been terribly disappointed if had the problems you are having. Best of luck.

Your car looks just like mine. Is that the Pallidium Silver? Do you have the beige and brown interior. Thats how mine is, I really like the color combo. To the Original Poster, what is the main issue you are having? How many miles on the car? I'd think it's something that could be corrected. Maybe try another dealer.

I have a 2013 S550 and it the poorest quality car I have ever owned. Is it quiet and is the ride nice? Sure, but QC is absolute crap. The second worst quality car I have ever owned is a GL550. Jaguars, Lexus, Infiniti, BMW, Cadillac, Range Rover I have never had one issue with. I'm probably done with MB.

Strange most people have good luck with anything 2012 Up in a Benz, they really improved their QC since then.

The W222 S-class has proven to be rock solid. Forums are the place where you hear most about issues and 3 years of posts show nothing significant.

I will say nothing significant where I have been stranded. Lots of little things. 2 things I expected would be a) the refinement of the little things would be much better and b) that dealerships and MBUSA would be more willing to fix little things due to the cost of the car.

Still hard to complain about reliability in the W222 forum when you drive a W221. Understood, bad experiences leave a sour taste...

But you say lots of little things. At last count you mentioned 5 issues in 3 years. Some rattle in headrest, key issue, brake (noise?) and a leaking hose?
If that is your worst car experience, then you are lucky. I understand they are a nuisance but a good dealer just takes care of them.
I like to separate dealer experience from the brand because I have experienced the best and worst at various dealers, all of which were related to people skills and attitude, not what kind of car it was.

Ya, I agree these are very solid well designed cars. So far I only see one flaw and that is that small AUX Battery in the trunk, it looks like a small motorcycle battery. From what I've seen those only last 3 years or so, I had to replace mine already, but it was covered under warrantee and it should be good for another three years and even when I have to buy it can be had for around 100 bucks, so no big deal.

Good point that it is a W221 and not a W222. Had MBUSA (who I contacted) or the dealer taken care of some of these issues I would likely have a W222 in the garage and a new GL550. Instead they lost $250K+ over a situation that probably truly costs them $300. My apologies on posting about a W221.

That's cheap! Unrelated side story here...
My opinion about BMW really soured when I had a battery issue with our 750. Even though the car was only a year old with under 10k on it they didn't wanted to cover the battery (which was a $600 cost, btw). They said that there was a code in the system that battery drained completely one time due to a parking light which can damage the battery. The error code was not dated and must have happened at the dealer (pre-purchase) as we never use parking lights. I almost walked away from the car.
It took BMW engineers over two years to figure out that their stock battery was too small and their software was poorly designed for cars in MN where it gets too cold in the winter. Battery would never charge enough in the winter and when the battery was low, the heater wouldn't come on.

2015 S550 4Matic, 22k miles, no issues, very happy with the car

I would demand that the dealer who sold you the car buy it back or replace it with a similar car. Remember that dealers don't like bad internet publicity (hint hint)

I had a 15 s550 got it brand new and put 36k miles on it and the only issue I had the entire time was squeaky breaks which they replaced and side bolster in seat had to be reset

Yes, my 2015 is Palladium Silver as well and I really like it. Of course, MB found it necessary to replace it with Selenite Gray. They must have deemed Palladium “too exciting” to retain. It didn’t quite go with their concept of offering their cars in 50 shades of gray or black. OK, that’s enough, I won’t go into my rant on MB colors.

My mom has had her 2015 S550 for a little over 2 years with about 25-30K miles and nothing major has gone YET. We leased it to have the maintenance covered for the whole lease.

I noticed you mentioned depreciation, leasing is usually a great way to go with these cars, especially the S class. Generally you can lease one around 1K a month (with some options, not fully loaded), and with the new S450 I believe when its been around for a little while one can get it for under 1K with negotiations (It starts at 89K).

I personally would never buy a used S class, even if its CPO. Yeah it does have the warranty so everything is covered under it for a limited time, but once it is out of warranty they are expensive to fix. Not sure if you still have CPO warranty on it or not. Also did you check the car fax before buying? (I know, stupid question but you'd be surprised how many people do not do this and they get screwed over in the long run).

So after rambling about my personal opinions, The only things I can suggest is shop around once its fixed and see what the different dealerships will take for it or try to sell it on your own and then leasing a new S class. It very well may be a lemon (and from what you have said, FL does not cover used cars with lemon law). Also, consult an attorney about the problems you are having. The dealership could be at fault for selling you a lemon *Not Legal Advice* so an attorney may be able to help you get out of your problematic S class.

Wow that is interesting. I have a 2015 S550 4Matic in Black Magnetite Metallic. Got the car with 7k miles on it and currently has 13k. Absolutely no issues to note except for the passenger lock pin got stuck but readjusted it and works fine now. Must be a dud that you got for sure.
