Is there any way to stream Netflix movies from iPad/iPhone/Tablet to rear entertainment screens? I don't buy DVDs any more and was wondering if I could simply use movies from my mobile.
I have an Amazon Fire TV stick that I connect to the rear screens that allow the passengers in the back watch their programming of choice, including but not limited to Netflix. It connects to the HDMI port within the rear armrest and gets powered from the USB port in the same. Rest was automatic. I have a much cleaner (shorter) USB cable now, but the picture here should give you an idea as well.
FYI: My '14 and '16 S550 4matics did not have the HDMI port while my '19 S63 AMG does have the HDMI port. I am guessing the HDMI port is a "newer" addition to the more recent w222. My '16 and '19 S Class cars are fully loaded with all the rear entertainment items including the airplane style tray tables.

Mine is an '18 S560 4MATIC. It has the HDMI port inside the rear center armrest. Cannot comment on the prior years, but I would understand if HDMI connectivity did not exist. The option you said you are missing will only impact the location of the HDMI port. It will still exist on '18 and beyond.
If the HDMI port is missing, then you can look into an HDMI to whatever video connection your vehicle accepts, usually composite or component, and it should boil down to be the same. Probably <$10 of an add-on to do that conversion, provided that you do have a powered USB port or a 120V plug. Those are tougher to workaround...
My 2015 has the three plug component video input, two USB's, a 120V outlet and a 12V outlet. HDMI must have been a later add. It seems it would be easy with an HDMI to component adapter to plug in an Apple TV, pair it with an iPhone or iPad and stream that way. I guess I should try it and see.

As a EE and someone moderately knowledgeable in audio/video I am totally embarrassed. My brain finally engaged when I saw the adapter at the Amazon link. The 2015 has a composite video input with two audio inputs. That's why there are three jacks and they are yellow, white and red!
You can buy adapters for either of HDMI to component (5 connections w/ audio) or HDMI to composite (3 connections w/ audio). Hassle but it will work with reduced quality (make sure the setting on the output of the device you are using is set to a resolution your end point can support before connecting to the car, so that you do not get unsupported resolution/connection message). Unless my memory is failing me, component should be able to support 720p (or 720i), and composite should be around 360 or 480...

I have the two monitors in the back. In the rear armrest i have the RCA plugs. How can i have YouTube in the monitors ? My Daughter just watch YouTube

thanks for your post, my daughter has been asking for Netflix in the rear of my W222. It’s been on my short list of fun projects I wanted to play around with. Beautiful car with everything you could want as a passenger as my ‘16 w222 has the executive rear seat plus package with center console and work tables.
My vision was pretty straightforward and I Decided to use what supplies I had, to determine if using a fire stick would work. After determining that it is a possibility, I will spend the few bucks for shorter cords, clips etc. to keep the connections tidy.
I connected tried and true old school RCA video and 2 audio (L/R) cables to the RCA inputs in the rear compartment armrest. The other end of RCA was plugged into a <$20 RCA to HDMI converter I had been using on an old tv that we had in our home gym but wanted to be able to use the Firestick. For those who may be following this - hope it’s helpful. If you already know where this is headed then I’ll say I have two questions at the end of this post that I would appreciate hearing some thoughts/POV on.
The HDMI converter requires power. I supplied by using micro USB connector to USB port in armrest beside RCA jacks. The Firestick also requires power, so a second micro USB to USB powers the stick in second USB slot.
Held my breath and ….
Screens on, annoying parental lock off, and selected Aux as the media and voila - Home Screen for FireTV. Will likely use my cell phone as hotspot when driving around, with unlimited data it should be fine to give the Firestick access to WiFi connection. I can also explore the in car hotspot option with data purchased through mbrace I believe. That’s a little pricey for something that really will get is used my.
So now it’s fine tuning- ordered 12” long cables to reduce/eliminate mess in the armrest compartment as the cords are unsightly but more importantly they’d get hung up when trying to use the tables.
Here are my two questions:
- The quality of what is projected onto the screens is not good. I think the factory rear seat entertainment is 1080p, wondering if anyone has a recommendation as to which HDMI converter is best?
- Secondly, are the headphones the only way to hear the sound? I’m going to feel stupid if there’s a simple way to change sound going to car speakers

Nice job! Let me know if you figure out the sound. I got as far as getting the apple tv to display.... Have not messed around since. Did the same, hot spot for data. If i get it all working well, will make all connections hidden behind the box.
Absolutely, it's super convenient to stream Netflix on your iPad or iPhone. If you want to watch on rear entertainment screens, you can use screen mirroring or a device like Apple TV. Just make sure your vehicle setup allows for this. Also, if you're a big Netflix fan, have you ever thought about becoming a Netflix tagger? It's a fun way to get involved and help categorize content.
