Congrats, especially on getting it for free!

How are you liking the Tesla?

Missed you on the forum Lovin’! I knew you would make it back here. I am assuming your wife is getting rid of the BMW? How is the Tesla Model S?

I love my ‘16 S Ruby Black and Beige/Espresso color combo. I saw the Mahogny in person and really like the color even though the pictures that some people have posted on the web look ugly. I was thinking of you recently as I spent about 10 days in the San Francisco area. Great to see you back on the forum. I still marvel at the ‘15 S write up on this forum of your ‘15 S custom build. Still just love the Mocha Black color.

Thanks for the kind words! They deleted Mocha Black for 2019 which I did not understand.

Yup, wife is getting rid of the 7 series Individual. We did go back and look at the new 7's but we both felt the new body style and drive were a step backwards for them. Yes, all the technology was great, but the inside and the drive were much different. I think the ride lost its one advantage it had when they tried to make it more like a Mercedes and less like a performance ride. We also looked at the new LS which be both thought looked gorgeous. The ride, with their new V6 was less than optimal in our opinion. The Mercedes clearly had the advantage over both of them.

The Tesla is doing great. I am really enjoying its ride and the service is a good surprise. Everyone is very nice and very accommodating. On the flip side, for anyone to suggest this is a comparable car to the Mercedes is just fantasizing. While the car has some very enticing and superior attributes to it, its fit and finish and its luxury are in no way comparable to a Mercedes. Everything about Tesla screams that it is a young company trying to figure it out, which is OK, because that is what you are buying. Mercedes is a 90 plus year old company that really knows how to build cars, it is obvious. My wife could have picked any car she wanted, she chose the Mercedes.

We all made great choices.

That's basically the car I've been looking at locally in the 2018 version and 4matic. Did they give you an approx. time for production/delivery? I may go the same route or possibly ED. Thanks

Working on getting that but its not soon. I think there is too much inventory around... so they are waiting. If I can narrow it down, I will let you know.

Nice to see your handle light up this forum again, my friend. Both you and your wife will absolutely love the S560. Most everything about it is much improved over the 2015. Welcome back.

Nice to be here again. I could immediately see the improvements when we took a short test drive. Excited to get the car.

The Mrs. liked the non-AMG lines and thought is was more feminine for her, especially given the darker color. I thought they did a nice job on the new front with no AMG package, so it was fine with me. Even if it wasn't fine, it would have still been fine.

Today they scheduled production for the second decade in July. That means the car should be here by the end of August. Wonder when the release date is?

Wouldn't be the first time my car sat in the VPC waiting for the release date.

Greetings and welcome back!
S560 inventory is not as heavy as it was in 2015 and there are no technical changes, so nothing to certify. End of August sounds very reasonable. But I know what you mean, our current car sat at the VPC for almost 6 months!

6 month wait at the VPC is frustrating and unacceptable.

I picked up my 2018 from the dealer today. Pretty much the same as yours and you will love the interior. I thought I was going to prefer the walnut trim with the Mahogany, but saw them side by side and the piano black was the winner for me. Mine was built in March and the dealer had it for 25 days before I bought it. The new Distronic is a leap above the old (2015 for me) and more aggressive than I expected. Very happy so far and think you will be too. Plus, quiet as a church, so no issues like the "noise" thread, which had me concerned. Have fun waiting...and waiting...

This was quite a topic of discussion here in the AMG section. Impacted the E63s and AMG GTR.
Some cars were sitting up to 10 months! At least they were not parked outside exposed to the weather...

Today my wife and I officially switched cars. I am now driving the 2019 S560 and she has the Tesla P100D.

I am very happy to be back in luxury. The Tesla is a fun car to drive, but it's fit and finish is very poor. Its technology is also lacking, and it doesn't have the basics of a $30,000 car.

It look great and drives great, but that's about it. I also must admit it was nice not to have to fill the car up with gas, but nevertheless, I am very happy to be back in the Mercedes.

Comfort and luxury, here I come.

Awesome to see you back here! Sweet ride.

Still love the ‘15 Mocha Black car you had. But I love the Ruby Black as well since my ‘16 S550 4matic (traded for the ‘19) and ‘19 S63 are Ruby Black. My S63 Beige/Espresso interior came with Espresso floor mats while my S550 came with the beige floor mats like you have. I had a tough time keeping those clean so I swapped them out for MB espresso brown mats about 12 months after I bought the ‘16 that comes with the Beige/Espresso interior on the ‘17 to ‘19 S class cars. Your mats look brand new—looks great!

C'mon, how did you talk her into that spartan Tesla from that gorgeous S560? I assume she'll have at least driving privileges on a regular basis. That interior is just beautiful! I wish we could get that Mahogany/ Silk Beige in our E450 CAB cars!

Welcome back friend.

Yesterday, I took my S560 on a 350 mile round trip. Weather conditions encountered varied from clear, blue skies to severe rain storms to light snow. Traffic conditions from bumper to bumper standstills on the I5, to 80mph cruising on Hwy 14. The car is truly amazing and a perfect cocoon for insulating one from the perils of nature and other drivers. I used Distronic Plus 95% of the time and that system should be prescribed by doctors to reduce tension and anxiety in those who have lengthy commutes. Once or twice, when wanting to pass another car, the power was instantly on tap for effortless acceleration. I liked my 2015 S550. I LOVE my S560 and it is my all time favorite car, warts and all. I’m sure you’ll love yours as well.

I know... how lucky am I.

I think she just liked the power and since that lease is up in 6 months, she now knows she gets to pick another car out then, so she did pretty good on the trade.

Hi Streamliner,

I am loving driving the car again, but now here is the problem. It's called 2021 and I have to figure out how to get out of this lease for this car that's only been one year. I suspect that is not going to be pretty.

Any thoughts?
