Angry No Oil Drain Plugs for S560

I just tried to get my 10K service performed at my dealer. They could not do the work since there are no drain plugs currently available in the US. The drain plug is a throw-away item and cannot be reused. Before scheduling an oil change make sure that you check with the dealer to ensure that parts are available; if the engine oil is removed there is no way to plug the engine currently.

When they get it "fixed" I'd tell them that there are no dollars currently available in your wallet. In addition to the fact we have no spare tires, we have no spare drain plugs. Wow.

Never heard of such a thing.... Can anyone elaborate? Now I understand that you should replace the Crush Washer, but I have been using the same Drain plug and crush washer since 2014 and not an issue with leaks, drips, removal etc....

what these companies are doing is drawing everyone away from the brand. Retarded.

Don't they just extract the oil from the dipstick port on top of the engine?

I don't think there is a dipstick on our cars. A mechanic told me that they did away with them and I looked for it and couldn't find it. All I saw was a transmission stick. If I'm wrong, someone correct me. I didn't really take all of the engine covers off so I may have missed it. I think somehow the diagnostic module tells how much oil there is and its quality.

So, in mine, even without a dipstick, they still have the tube with a plain cap so you can extract the oil. This is the M285 12-cyl., so I don't know about the V-8...

Interesting, so on the, what, S450 the oil filter is not on top anymore as per the PDF upthread? I love doing my own oil changes at home!

Really? In the late 70's, they invented the Plastic Drain Plug for the Jiffy Lube "Professionals" that when they strip your factory plug, they put in the "recovery" plastic plug, as they tell you your plug was stripped to begin with... yeah right. Silly is an understatement.

Well the change to the new transmission eliminated the steel transmission pan for a plastic on.

Ford has been using plastic drain plugs for a while on their engines.

Does anyone know about the metal drain screw (15) in Steve's pdf from MB above? Where is it? Does it have a replaceable washer & is it at same site as the plastic plug or somewhere else?

If you're referring to 10 e550 (if not, update your info) - lower oil pan 90 & 100 in diagram, screw part # 1119970330 / sealing ring 007603014106.

Maybe they need to just make it so at every scheduled oil change the whole engine is replaced, that way no one can use the wrong oil. Who needs a dipstick or oil plug anymore when the engine is basically designed to be disposable anyway.

I changed my oil in the S560 4Matic. Just pulled the plastic plug & oil filter. Got 9 liters out. Used 8 mm and 10 mm hex to remove plug & center filter drain respectively. Removed filter housing with crescent wrench. Will get socket for next time to remove housing. Seems like it takes a 21 or 23 mm. 19mm was my largest.

I'm lost on this drain plug. Are you saying that the drain plug is removed from the top of the engine and that this plug screws into the bottom of the oil pan (from the top of the engine) where the oil drains from? Tried to find a Youtube for changing oil on the S560 but no luck.
