s63 tires

Hi everyone,

Thinking of putting falken azenis fk510 tires on my 2015 s63 sedan. Reviews seem to be reasonable and a lot cheaper to replace every 8 k miles.Any opinions will be appreciated.

Not a fan of Falken tires in high performance use situations, but if you drive your 63 like most people do and just cruise on the street, you should be fine.

I had a set of FK453's on my CL when I got it, took them off for my normal Bridgestones. Put them back on after 2 sets of the RE11s just to use them up rather than throw them away, and they were just terrible by comparison, no traction at all, sketchy in the rain once they got worn 1/2 way. I am very hard on tires though, much more so than most people.

Every 8,000 miles???? I'm getting 25,000 on a set.

The S is a heavy pig of a car. There’s a trade off between grip and tire life. If you want good grip (soft tires), then tire life is going to be <10K.

I wouldn’t risk putting on cheaper tires at the expense of grip, but that’s just my opinion.

You know, I have to laugh when I read posts about replacing tires. Here we are, driving these very expensive cars, sucking down huge amounts of premium fuel, paying big bucks to maintain & insure them, but then it seems to be the end of the world, if we need to replace the tires. Over my three year lease, I’ll probably put 35K miles on my car. The way I drive, I could probably get by with one set of my Bridgestone Serenity Plus tires, but you know what? I like to use the first half of tire life, much better than the second half. The car rides much nicer on new tires and since I don’t use run flats, it’s added insurance against getting a flat. So, at about 15K to 18K Miles, I’ll put on a new set. When I turn the car in at lease end, the tires are just fine. The cost of a new set of tires is a drop in the proverbial bucket when it comes to what we spend on these cars, so why not always have a fresh set?

Hi Streamliner,

Its not the same car(s63 vs s560) and the question is with the falkens fk510 I can change tires twice for the cost of one michellin set which also has some pretty nasty reviews by users. I don't drive aggressively.

Bridgestones. Even after 14,000 miles on them (as of today) they don't have any wear much at all and they sound just like new (no whirring wear pattern sounds). The original Continentals were AWFUL.

I have a set of 19 inch FK510 on my C63. Japanese made, latest technology and is in the top 5 tyre awards in Australia and Europe.
I cant fault them.

the s63 is a very odd size and I agree there are def not to many choices. I think most brands of tires these days are pretty good. Ive used a few sets of falkens in the past and they do tend to wear quik. Im currently running 3 sets of conti dws on 3 of my cars and so far so good. Not sure they are avail in s63 sizes tho.

I wasn’t specifically talking about you or any particular W222 model. My point is that the cost to keep these cars shod with the best quality tires, with never less than 50% of tire life, is what I call a relatively minor expense compared to the overall expense of driving one of these cars.

Well, I’m a nut about keeping things stock MB, so I’m not a good one to ask about wheels. To me, ride quality is everything, so I always go for the smallest diameter wheels, 18” on the W222, and the most quiet, soft riding tires. I love my Bridgestone Serenity Plus tires.
