Something better and the Maybach ain’t it!
That said the main reason I've stayed away from it is that my parts wholesaler has stated that the parts for the Maybach are beyond comprehension, from a price standpoint. He cited off a few items (like the water pump). Because of the Maybach's goal to be as quiet as possible, and because of the lack of volume, Maybach parts prices are just stupid.
Based on your post it appears there are some interchangeable items with a good ol' S. Any idea how common the commonalities are?

I had a new Rolls-Royce in 1987. One night, while out late, I had to stop for gas. I mistakenly left the gas cap on the gas pump and did not discover it until the next day. I went to the RR dealer and they sold me a new cap for something like $185.00. A few days later, I was in PepBoys and noticed that hey had the exact same cap, in a different color plastic, with the same manufacturer markings, for something like $5.00. I bought it and took both caps back to RR, as I had not yet installed the new cap and asked them what the difference was in the two. They said that the one in the RR box had gone through “extensive testing and certification, to make sure it met the highest standards of RR.” I returned the RR cap, put on the Pep Boys cap and lived happily ever after. There is so much B.S. when it comes to the servicing of ultra luxury vehicles and their replacement parts.

BTW I had the same thing happen with a gas cap on a Infiniti Q45. $80 Gas cap vs $5.00
