Guys, the OP was pretty clear that he was "Cheap". Nothing wrong with that, but getting on the thread and arguing that buying a car new vs used is a better deal financially is absurd. You have to look at the TCO over several years of ownership, not the discount you are getting on a new car unless the discount offsets the depreciation by a LOT. Talk to any accountant and they will tell you that buying a car new costs substantially more than buying a slightly used car, the only exception to this is if you can lease and write off the payment as a business expense.

I agree with the options you have listed which I have as well, but I also "needed" power rear seat package (w/ heat and cool), HUD, heated windshield, and warmth & comfort package which gives you heated steering wheel and heated side panels (I live in Colorado). I totally agree with the wheels, you can get better ones later.

YOu can get scammed anywhere any place so that is not reason to buy new or used.
This is why they have the LEMON LAW so manufacturers can buy back their JUNK... and yes you end up not being whole as you pay for those days/months you owned it in most states.
Buy CPO.... MB is backing the car and price is great and warranty better then NEW.
Watch CPO page as they change it sometimes to offer you more when the LEASE returns start to pile up and they need to move them.
90% of CPO are lease returns I bet.
Plus you get to see the carfax report to see if car had issues before you buy so you can know what youa re getting into.
First buyer eats the depreciation
CPO buyer just does not get the latest and greatest as it is not current Model year.....
PEACE!

On the other hand, which generation or engine you guys prefer?
in E-class, 5.5L NA engine is better than 4.6TT for some people and they have their pros and cons.
What do you guys suggest here in the S-class? Also, how is the S450, is it a true S-class with smaller engine for more mpg or there is some trade-off in other aspects too?

My comment may have started this discussion, which is an OK discussion to have in my opinion. Everyone will have their opinions, they will differ, and that is exactly how it works and we all have to respect that. I still stand by my comment, as I did not arrive to that through discussions, I arrived to that through observing real life events, and may be through bad luck. That is one of the three principles I go by when I am purchasing a car or a house, or any other similar purchase. It may feel different to others, which I totally respect, and no need to argue on that. So yes, PEACE .
