authentic wheels or fake wheels
Hi, I bought Genuine S63 AMG forged wheels from a seller in Thailand
I bought them as a present for my friends.
Are these authentic wheels or replica wheels?
Could anyone help me to confirm this?
Best regards
Penpicha

Seriously, I spent more than 220,000 baht ($7,000) for these four wheels, I expect these wheels should be genuine AMG wheels.
Anyway, thanks for your reply
If anyone has any comment about this, please let me know
Thanks

We should have a sticky post on manufacturing locations for wheels...
Yes. These wheels look legit. Unlike what people may think, many AMG forged wheels are manufactured in Asia, not Germany.
Very few reps have fake manufacturing and vendor stamps.
Also, reps are cast, not forged so if you have the wheels, just put them on the scale...

Wolf is right, I looked at the ASI site and they appear to be an OEM supplier to many brands. Probably legit but not sure any set of wheels is worth 7K.

So $7k seems expensive but about right provided they are in new condition...

Thailand and other parts of Asia can be incredibly expensive for MB's and probably parts as well. AMG forged wheels are pricey too. A set of take-offs run $4k-$5k on Ebay and are above $10k new if memory serves.

I would also make sure to get the Centercap removal tools from MB. If too lose, the center caps can get lost and are very pricey to replace. If too tight you can damage them when trying to get them off. It's not a real center lock, so it's just a plastic tool that's normally in the trunk.

I would on price with a dealer if needed (A0005810000)

I just did Euro Delivery on my new ‘19 AMG S63 last week. I ordered the 20” AMG Forged Cross-Spoked Wheels in Sliver on the car. The dealer quoted me $2100 per wheel ($8400 for 4 wheels new) new so I could have a set for winter with winter tires instead of changing tires I will change the whole wheel/tire combo every season. I did not want to spend that so I purchased a set of take-offs wheels with tires having about 400 miles on them. These are authentic and cost me $4100 on EBay for the wheels and tires. Just FYI. And yes the above wheels look authentic to me.

Sweet ride!! I am sure you had great luck with the weather. November is normally a tricky month in Germany but this year has been exceptional. I hope you took advantage of the Autobahn

The S63 is an awesome car. Cant’ wait to get it back here in the states. The S63 I purchased has virtually the same exact equipment as my ‘16 S550 4matic (even the same exterior and interior colors—Ruby Black and Beige/Espresso. So I am looking forward to experiencing the AMG side of the car. Wolfman, one of those pics I posted was from my visit to AMG in Affalterbach. Wow! If you ever get a chance to go to Affalterbach you should go. They gave me a one on one tour and spent fours hours with me! Absolutely awesome.

Yes enjoyed Autobahn but as you know with your E63 the break in period is 1000 miles so I did not put on enough miles to be able to go over 85 mph or 4500 rpm. That’s ok though since I rented an S63 for 10 days a year and a half ago in Germany and experienced the Autobahn to the full extent at that time with an AMG.

Same for break-in. I have to admit that I have never followed break-in procedures and the cars are stronger for it. The engines do not need break-in, rather the other mechanical parts (drivetrain, transmission) do.
It just torture to go slow in an AMG in Germany

they look legit to me.. To tell definitively, you should weigh each wheel and compare to OEM wheel weight.
OEM wheels are usually forged and lightweight, aftermarket counterparts are usually Cast and much heavier !
