Continental Vs Michelin
Hi everyone,
Just purched a 2018 S560 and tired of the road noise of my RFT Pirelli's. The tire size is 245/40/20 for the front and 275/35/20 for the rear. I decided to purchase the spare kit and go with the non-RFT with the option to choose between Continetal or Michelin ! Please share your experience as far as the road noise and comfort between these two brands ?
Thank you all,

Both are great brands. I just installed the Continental Pure Contact LS on my E550 a couple of months ago and I'm happy with them. It's an all-season Grand Touring tire, but I don't know if they make it in the size that you need. My previous tire was the Continental Pure Contact and the tire noise and ride quality got pretty bad towards the end. The new LS version is supposed to improve tire noise and comfort, and so far I can say that they succeeded.

My former car W212 came with Continentals and when those were due in wear and tear I swapped them with Michelins .The result was more than just breakthrough .Michelins were proven to be quieter .I have also read good comments on Continental DWS Series

All tires become noisier as they age - especially once the tread is down to about 50%.
That said, also be careful choosing Michelin tire models. Some of them are far noisier than their Conti competitors. (Compare Michelin Pilot A/S 3 vs. Conti ProContact, etc.) Read the reviews of the specific model tire you are considering.
Certain of the Michelins are very quiet, while others are most definitely not.
Both brands are great tires. Just be sure you choose the best model for what you want it to do/be.

In addition to all the other qualities Michelin's possess, Michelins generally are lighter (equal tire to equal type tire) which reduces unsprung weight...a very good thing

I have an extra set of OEM Rims, so I would be interested in purchasing a Summer set of tires instead of Extended Mobility and or All Season since I do plan on doing the swap in the Spring. Gives me a chance to Clean and Polish the rims and look forward to getting the best tire for rain and dry driving. I assume getting a summer only tire is equivalent to getting a winter only tire, the best possible for the weather conditions. The stopping distances and comfort will be the best possible for summer and with winter tires, the best possible for winter.
So, anyone have a recommendation for the best Summer tire... Thanks

I dont think you will get any real benefit from a summer only tire, they are soft and the heavy s class will eat them and I bet return very little. The newer tires are alot better than years ago. Im very pleased w my conti dws and I leave them on all year. I had this talk w jason and at the time he got the michelins for around 50.00 more than the conti dws... at that price I would have also tried them.
