New Rubber Installed
Greetings all,
Well I got my new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires installed and the car rides and handles so much better. Even have my spare tire in the trunk just in case. Those Run Flat Tire's felt like I was riding in mud all the time. I take both my Mercedes to these guys known as Performance Automotive. They specialize in Porsche engine repair and use the latest Hunter Alignment and Wheel installation machines to get everything in accordance to Mercedes specifications. I've been using them now for about 7 years. They were drooling over the S550 and even asked me where The Green Hornet was (87' 420 SEL). Lol!
The naked lady. Lol!
Tire going back on...
Wheel being torgued to specification.
Some other eye candy in their shop.

Question, on your spare tire, where did you purchase it? Did you get the OEM jack kit with it? Did you have it securely installed, or do you leave it just sitting in the trunk?
Thanks!
Nice to see you have a quality shop! Far and Few around....

Yea that was my question. Does the spare sit in the compartment under the trunk floor?

I searched on Ebay and found the spare but I had to purchase the jack kit separately. The spare sits more towards the rear of my trunk. It takes up some space but I still have a lot of room. I'll have to take a picture. The jack kit fits perfect under the bottom of the trunk in it's own compartment. I always tell those guys who run the shop that they are very special. They take very good care of their customers and their equipment. Thanks much.

I agree! But i'm used to regular tires on my rides just in case I need to go to a local tire shop. At least I wont be surprised if they say we can't repair that run flat tire and/or we have to order it for you.

Anyone have a complete kit / OEM part numbers. How is the spare mounted in the 221? Can it be retrofitted in the 222? I see some jack kits that the center of the spare has a foam insert with the jack and tools. I assume I can retrofit a hold down back there. I'm weary of ebay…. Ordered some OEM black MB Center caps, received China Knock off's.... Poor quality, loose fit, bad logo copy....

Thanks. They always recommend that I go back and their pro techs work. I have established a trust worthy bond with this shop. They take real good care of both my Benz's and point out things that they feel need to be addressed just so i'm informed!
