Yep the tank is way to small for my use. I try to get 400 miles before I fill it up. I was headed to the gas station. I'm 50 miles from home. Had my dad bring a factory wheel to throw on it to get it home. Nope, I need the factory lug bolts to, the aftermarket ones were too short. Today sucks...

So I didn't have original bolts at my house so had to go to my office and pick up one of my HRE FF01s with a Blizzak on it. It looks so funny. Had to put the car in the raised setting to get the jack underneath. (I love air ride! Can't wait for my lomo module to come in so I can lower it when I want) Oh well, back on the road. I'm getting a friggen spare. Going to try to tear out the bottom of the trunk and see if I can fit a small spare under the floor.

Here is a picture inside my trunk and one taken from under the car looking back to front along the left side of the car. The inside front to back dimension of the carbon fiber well floor is 20”, the width is 22”. So not even an inflatable spare will fit. Looking underneath the aluminum piece that the carbon fiber piece sits in is the same dimension. The distance between the two mufflers is 25”, allowing 1” per side clearance the maximum possible width of a trunk well would be 23”. No way a full six spare will fit and probably not a compact either. I could not tell while laying on the floor what limits the front to back dimension of the trunk well to 20” If MB does offer spare tires in a few countries then the rear structure of the car must be different.
This is an S65 so the mufflers may be different than those on an S560. If so then the trunk well could be wider. Someone will need to measure an S560.

Thanks for posting those pics. I have a 2016 S550 sport and just pulled up the carpet liner in the well and that square is the battery!!! So there is another huge obstacle to any mod even being thought of! As has been said it's one thing not to give a spare but another genius move to prevent the choice of carrying one!! Having owned many cars and many brands I am a big fan of MB design and engineering....but this is just a blunder and ridiculous design.

Thanks for the photos. I knew there was was a tub but I was hoping it could hold a spare of some sort. I'll try or measure the donut 2012 spare mañana. That will be after I run 180 mi quick trip......on RFT.
BTW. Got my 19" wheels today to replace the 20 RFT.

I can see relocating the battery location to the left behind the rear seat with proper tie down should not be that hard of a job. But as you said the well still needs to be enlarged. From a dimension aspect I am wondering the dimension of the tire put in on an angle. Instead of lying flat in the well (which needs the most room) lay it angled the front on the bottom of well and going toward back raised up, or vise versa??? It may not be deep enough? May have a hump in the back, but that would be better than losing all the space in the trunk??

I'm still wondering where the s65 battery is. That carbon fiber is sexy.

Right now your up at bat!!! LOL I have some roadtrips with the family this summer then I'll make my switch to Michelins on 19's. I already bought a W221 S63 mag spare to get ready. If you haven't done it by then, I will be pulling the trunk apart and explore my options before resorting to it taking up half my trunk!

With 22” wheels and the “rubber band” profile tires they require on a W222, you are just begging for trouble, but I’m sure you know that. I run non-run flat tires and carry a W221 compact spare, which sits on top of my trunk floor. It’s a nuisance, but provides great peace of mind, especially when traveling outside a metro area.

You cannot run a smaller rolling diameter tire in one corner if you have 4matic from what I understand. The rolling diameter of all tires has to be within a 3% difference, no more.

Has anyone considered a cover on there spare?
Also, does anyone have a complete parts list to acquire one? I did Brakes and Rotors last week, Needed Lock Socket, needed MB Socket. So, basically you need to make sure you have ALL the correct tools to remove a tire. If I was stranded, I would have forgot about the special socket for the MB Lugs. I had one lug fail, the Metal Cap came off, I used one of the spare Lugs that came off when the Locks were installed. Also, do the Locks come in black from MB...
I have a 2014 W222 S550 4Matic 19" Staggered setup.
What is the OEM Lug for these Rims? Can you reuse existing lugs from OEM Rims? Do the Lugs come in Black?
What is the Spare Tire to search for?
What are the Jack / Tool Part Numbers to search for?
I have had this unit for years, it works great. https://www.bing.com/images/search?v...RST&ajaxhist=0
Thanks!
