W204->W212->W222
From reading the thread, it seems you can't order a spare donut from your local MB dealer. Can you can order a spare donut for a S63 and have it fit the S550? Will the S63 donut still fit whether you have 18 or 19 or 20 inch wheels?

The alternative seems to order a spare from a W221 on ebay, but they are not always a reliable place to source a spare for a W222.

Cool W222 does seem to have a wheel well for a spare tire

I just got a W222 S550 (this replaced a 2012 W221 S550). I noticed that when the trunk floor liners (2 separate layers) are lifted up, there appears to be a regular wheel well for a spare tire (may even hold a full sized spare, not just a donut). The problem is that the battery is mounted in the middle of this well. I am going to look into relocating the battery in the back of the trunk so that this precious wheel well is not wasted and can hold a full-sized spare (rescued from the old 2012 S550). Will update when I get going on this project. Unless it is easier to just carry the spare in the trunk (local driving) or back seat (long-distance trips when trunk space is needed for luggage). From my numerous experiences with many different cars (3 S-class sedans, Porsches, BMWs), it is unthinkable to drive out of town without a spare. In fact all my cars (except for an electric Porsche driven only locally) carry full-sized spares. For our previous 2012 S550, I removed the staggered AMG 20" wheels (after 2 blowouts, one of which could have led to many deaths) and bought 5 identical 19" wheels and Pilot-sport tires; the 5th one sat perfectly in the trunk's well after removing the 2nd partitioning layer. I rescued it and now hope to fit it into the trunk well of the W222. We will see how it goes!

i successfully installed a W221 new donut in the trunk with a aftermarket hold down bracket that will safely hold it in place. I also have a cover on it. It can easily be removed if needed. It sits on a slight angle center rear. It looks factory. Only negative trunk space.

Interesting idea coco9 ... I've thought the same thing, that the battery could be moved up into the trunk and the well freed up to hold a spare. This is a picture of the well I found on the internet and it looks fairly large without the battery tray ...

Thanks Nice Ride. May I ask where you got the aftermarket hold-down bracket?

Amazon. I posted all the parts and photos about 3 years ago on the forum. Try searching, I don’t remember where..
