2020 G90 vs S class
So who the hell buys a G90? Folks who don't do their research.

It is hard to pass these cars up especially if you are just daily driving. Honestly I am starting to not see the difference as much besides the status which is at times unwelcoming.
Younger generations are not shoping name brands anymore. They don't care if its a Rolex and to me it is a problem as they also do not care about quality luxury items. Real quality goods have now been watered down into cheaper versions and its almost sad to see. Is a GLA really even a Mercedes? I always say my kids will never aspire to have a quality good vs one that just gets the job done. We all have Toyota to thank for that as it is a great business strategy but it slaps destroyed wanting to build the best instead of the best at a certain price.
I use my S as a daily driver so it is hard tp pass up cars like this. I see them sold at big discounts so Im not sure where the sold at sticker comes from?
The next S better have unique color and material options. They need to make Designo more individual and built to order. If I want a blue S with a red interior and carbon trim I should be able to buy it. I want exclusivity and if Mercedes doesn't deliver then why not search out an alternative. One of the biggest disapoinmenst was the Lexus LS. I thought I would leave with one but the materials were just cheap.
there is a market for all types of buyers, and a G90 is a quality sedan.

S450 MSRP is $108,000. At least 9% of that is margin, so that means dealer invoice cost is $98,280. Before you ask, my negotiations when I was in the market for a S450 here in my neck of the woods was even less than that as dealers were willing to 'eat' into their holdback to get rid of it. So I could knock another $2k to $3K off of $98,280, but let's ignore that because most people can't 'do' that.
So we're at $98,280 - $15K manufacturer incentive is $83280, which is LESS than the $89K Genesis G90.
Sure, no one buys a base model S450, so add in the premium package or whatever, and now we're near the price of a G90. Add in a few more, and you're still within 10% more than the price of a G90.
Either way, anyone with a brain who can do basic math would know a G90 is only, on paper, cheaper than an S class. It may not be after margin and manufacturer incentives. It's one reason I didn't end up buying a G90 but my point is that when people keep on saying a G90 is cheaper and that's it's USP, it's not always accurate, and it's more often wrong than right.

My Sommelier son (25y) who drives a new GLA 250 (I bought it for him when he made the certification) does not care about the brand, heritage, etc, is jealous though of his buddy's Hyundai Tucson because he has a car apple play and his Benz does not.

Lexus started right out of the bat as a luxury car, competition to S-Class, at E-Class price.
Kia started as el cheapo mass transportation subcompact and is only now trying to improve the image.
My gripes are as follows:
1. The ride did not compare with my then 2015 S550 with MBC. The ride was good, but my S rode much better.
2. No massage seats or wood/leather steering wheel available.
3. Only two interior color choices and with some exterior colors, only one.
4. No provenance or history as an ultra safe, ultra crash worthy car, compared to a W222.
5. Zero cachet compared to an S Class.
Prior to 2020, if I could only afford an E Class, I’d buy the G90. That’s how I felt before I saw the hideous new grill, which now kills the car for me.

But I agree, it's a nice car but does not tick the box for someone shopping for luxury.
