Brakes for a W222 Ceramic worth it ?
I have a 2015 S550 4matic sport package and will need to replace brakes soon and would appreciate recommendations on pads & rotors. I have never changed pads for a Benz but have for other brands, good suggestions will be appreciated. I am considering ceramic pads, are oem rotors compatible with ceramic pads? I never used ceramic pads. Does ceramic pads get approx. the same wear as OEM pads? Other than brake dust is there any advantage to using them? Also, any recommendations on where to purchase pads, rotors & wear sensor. I keep a clean car, so cutting down on the dust on my 20” AMG wheels will be nice.

Unless you are regularly tracking your car, don’t get ceramic brakes. They are not optimal for street driving and will give you maximal bite only when they are hot. And they may give you the high pitched squeak when cold.

I just did my brakes on my 2015 4Matic last month. Rock Auto had the best pricing, had everything needed and I went with the ceramic pads. They work as good as OEM and I have no brake dust. Should have swapped the pads when I purchased the car as lack of dust all over the wheels is worth it. They do squeal occasionally but not too bad. Don't forget the pad wear sensors and fluids. I think for Rotors, pads, parts and fluids it was around 700 bucks for all the parts for all 4 wheels.

I've had ceramic pads on my S450 for two years now. Only 1 MM of wear, very low dust, no noise and they stop just as well as the OEM pads that they replaced.

The irony is, these cars are very easy to wrench on. I did the fronts in about 1.5 hours and the rears in about 2 hours on a saturday. Dealer was quoting me over 2K for brakes for my Sport model 4Matic.
