I own a 2015 S-Class that has a blank command screen display screen that will not work. For a period of time it would seem like it would reset off-and-on then always go back to functioning again. Until this time, where it completely turned off once and for all. The interesting part is that my vehicle display on the left hand side (speedometer, rpm, odometer, etc) is functioning properly. Does anybody have any solutions / suggestions on how or what could be causing this and most importantly how it could be fixed?
How old is your battery? This kind of weird electronic stuff is often linked to a dying battery.
You might try disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes and reconnect. Of course, this *may* have the effect of losing your saved data like radio presets, navigation destinations and whatnot.
Does your back-up camera display on the screen?
I'm truly not a big DIY type of guy, but the fuse is something I'd start with.
Fuse Box in front-passenger footwell. Fold down cover and remove.
Fuse #318 is Audio/COMAND display.
You might take it out and re-seat it. Like I said it's a start...
From there, if that doesn't work, I'd try replacing the fuse.

Reason: add. to post
facing the same issue with the 2014 w222 command for over a year now, has completely gone shut and is a disaster to drive the car around
Did you have any luck with yours? If yes, would really appreciate if you could share what the solution is!
thanks a lot

I have a 2015 S550 and mine has done this a couple of times recently. It comes back on relatively quick, but it is concerning. I haven’t noticed it in about a month now.
I will be very curious as to what others find out about this.
FYI: COMAND display has an automatic temperature controlled switch-off feature, brightness is reduced if temperature is too high or may temporarily switch off completely. Not claiming this is the problem my suggestion, pull fault codes and check for software update.
I have tried the ON button, however did not press it for a full minute.. is a full minute necessary?
Really hoping that is the case, will try tonight and update you
hi guys, no luck at all, gave it to a few mechanics but apparently a complex issue to resolve
the on button and cd player reset isnt leading to anything
I know this is a little underhanded but I would go out and buy an aftermarket warranty that has coverage bumper to bumper, wait 90 days and report it broken. God knows how much this would cost to fix...makes me think that second my factory warranty ends in 2 years I sell or buy an additional warranty.

I may have bad news for you. The command system on my 2015 S550 did the same thing 4-5 years ago when the car had less than 19K miles. They had to replace the entire command unit, fortunately, it was still under warranty then. As a matter of fact, they had to replace 2 units to make it work. For some reasons, the first replacement got zapped. It's been fine for the past several years. It's one of those that made me regret my purchase of the car... Good luck to you because it is NOT cheap!
i just started it after charging it as i had a critical battery warning due to leaving it for 3 weeks unused.
After charging, started fine but no command screen and a warning on instrument panel about parking not applied, went for a 5 min drive and command screen still blank.
checked fuse in footwell and all seemed well in that area & then upon restarting i’d lost the instrument panel as well
this was all 30 mins before a transporter turned up to take the car to another destination for us, loaded it up and i’ll have to sort it out when reunited with the car next week.
i’ll carry out the advised resets outlined on this thread but i’m a little worried about loosing the cluster display after fiddling with the fuses, wandering if i might have replaced the fuse in the wrong location or something..
any ideas? Anyone else lose their instrument cluster shortly after losing their command screen?
ETA: i also lost functionality of all the buttons in the lower area, where you select suspension, exhaust, transmission etc

Nik,
I leave my 2018 without battery charger more than 3 weeks in my garage and did not have any problem yet, you may want to check your battery, eventually at the dealer, they can tell you if your battery is still good or not, just my .02
