I looked into this Designo Manufaktur program when I ordered my 2019 SL. At that time, the process was very slow, cumbersome and very limited as to what they would do. The answer to virtually every request was “NO.” In addition, the cost to do what they would do, was off the charts. Since I couldn’t get much of anything just the way I wanted it, I threw my hands up and ordered a standard car.
Now, with the new S being built at the new factory, I do believe that this program will improve, but I would still bet that it will add 8 to 16 weeks to the normal delivery time and there will still be many restrictions. If and when I ever consider a W223, I will certainly look into doing something special.
