I'm giving up with the internet on my 2017 S550
I've had enough. Last winter it took a long time to get it up and running right as I'd always get the Data connection Temporarily unavailable notice and no arrows in the upper right of the screen. Finally got it working after numerous trips to the dealer and a lot of phone calls with MB. Worked ok most of the Summer. The past ten days nothing. I really do think it's a verizon server related issue as nothing has really changed with the car from what I can see, but just no connection. Was on the phone with Benz today they shot another signal to the car, still nada. I pay 18 a month for the entertainment package, guess I'm gonna call it quits no sense in paying if it doesn't work. Can't get any straight answers from Benz. It's pretty amazing there was never a class action suit against Benz for this issue as anything 2017 and below has serious issues. (they went to 4g lte with my model year 2017) before that 3g, so less useful). I did like having internet working as the in car wifi could be useful, the internet radio sounded pretty good and had a lot of stations. Also Metadata updates for CD's stored on the 10.8 GB hard drive and Nav Traffic plus online searches and a few other things in the apps. I guess from now on I'll just use the Hardrive with my 300 recorded CD's and stream over my cell phone apple music etc and FM radio. Don't care for the XM Radio, does not sound very good. Oh well, I tried. Seems the only way to correct this issue would be to buy a 2018 S560 which would use ATT and that didn't have these issues, but I just don't feel like spending 30K extra on a car just for this.

I agree with that statement at least up until model year 2018 at least in both the E class and the S class. I also have a 2019 E450 Wagon and the internet in that car works fine and is 10 dollars a month through ATT with fairly limited data but I don't use it too much and it works fine, no complaints. The Data services through Verizon seem to have been a disaster from everything I can tell. I also had a 2015 S550 that I got rid of a couple years ago, same thing with that car, disaster, I gave up on that internet too, it was only 3g and even worse than the 2017.

My 2015 W222 is having seriously stupid problems with the internet as well. I only want to use it for a few of the remote options, but the people at mBrace are seriously poor communicators. Recently my system simply stopped working and after two dealer attempts to update the system it doesn't work at all now. The one thing it does do that's rather peculiar is when I try to reset the system by pressing all three buttons at once. - the wrench, the sos, and the I button - it dials a non-working number for US Cellular and gives me a message that the system needs to be reset via US Cellular support. Of course, US Cellular support doesn't have a clue what I'm talking about. The dealer says they'll have it fixed next time I come in. I stream my music via Google Fi and it works just fine. I just wish an easy Android Auto was available.

I really do think it's an issue at the server end of things and that MB has just kinda given up with the older cars that use this antiquated Verizon system. I do really like my car, it drives great and is the most comfortable car on the planet but the Tech is kinda lacking. I'm not sure if it's worthwhile to spend an extra 50K on a new car just for this reason, I guess that's probably what MB is banking on. Like I said above I'm amazed there are no class action lawsuits over this issue as it is so common since we are all trying to connect to the same system that does not work properly. It's not really car so much as it is the server. Sometimes my internet works most of the time not.

Data services on platforms like W222 and W166 are/were a failed experiment for MB. Not sure how the latest MBUX/Connected customers are faring. Not many comments about this on the W213 and V167 sections of the site.

This place is a joke.
My understanding was that all your data has to travel to the Daimler servers in Germany and then back to you, thus causing a lot of issues. Daimler/MB likes to maintain tight control of their vehicle information and data.

I have both. In addition to my 2017 S550 I have a 2019 E450 Wagon and the Internet including internet Radio and weather apps and local apps work fine no issues along with the Hot spot. I pay just ten dollars a month for the ATT service in that car. In the 2017 S550 it's 18 dollars a month.
