I stopped using my Blackberry and started using an iPhone because Blackberry made a corporate decision to stop updating their software. Thus my Calendar and Contacts no longer synched. The Blackberry was a superior product in many ways, particularly security. But I had to consider the day-to-day practical aspects.

Right, not exactly market driven. More like this is the new way, like or not.

Yep, Blackberry is a good example of once coveted features becoming irrelevant. A physical keyboard even the size of a Blackberry continues to be superior for typing compared to a touchscreen and I used to type up entire emails on my Blackberry, but today on my iPhone I limit myself to short responses or I wait until I'm back at my desk and reply from my laptop. One simply adapts. The iPhone has many other advantages, which is why it displaced Blackberries etc. Same goes for cars. I mentioned this above already, but voice control plays a larger and larger role. Even now with physical buttons in my current car in addition to capacitive touchpads, I increasingly use voice control while driving. But also there are many things one normally doesn't really do while driving. For example the seat control buttons not being physical buttons, is that really a problem? How often does one adjust their seats while driving? I pretty much never do. They are set to my preferred position and left there. Stored in one of the memory positions, so if it ever gets changed I just recall them. In the past I had two positions stored. One for more comfortable driving and one for most of my driving, so I just went between the two, but never really fiddled with the different adjustments while moving. Many other things are that way, too. For example I rarely change the cabin temperature. It's set to 72 most of the time and I just let the automatic climate control do its thing. In the summer I may lower it to 70, but that's about it. Couldn't really care less if the climate control are physical buttons or touchscreen. I just don't use them enough to make a difference and again, I could use voice control to lower or increase the temperature, too.

First- I have never cared for the round vents- they are a little too retro for me. But that being said I prefer the upper picture with zero exposure to the lower picture. I will reserve judgement until I have had a chance to sit in the 223 and get used to it.

Take the 223 interior, delete the center touchscreen. Continue the horizontal lines/wood veneer behind it and incorporate vertical vents like the ones on the sides of the dash and that would be a good start. Still would like some sort of "finishing" around the gauge screen and something to address that huge HUD area.

Wonder if they slapped the ipad in there, then designed the rest of the interior around it.....those air vents in the center are pointed right at the face of the driver and passenger? Seems kind of highly placed The more I look at it, the more I do not really like it. not as if I'll be buying one anyway so my opinion counts for very little.

Yes I feel the center screen is way too intrusive. Hype wishing you a quick recovery.

Always significantly preferred the W222 Sedan dash to the W222 coupe dash. Would prefer the W223 Sedan dash as well if the IP was better incorporated into the dash

The other thing that bothers me is the lack of symmetry. The vents for instance are off center of the screen.

All they needed to do is integrate the screen and such an improvement. I can't understand MB's decision to "float or attach"" the screens pretty much across the entire brand. Such a fail IMO, interiors would look so much cleaner and elegant.

the top vents are also not really scaled for a big luxury car like this. too small. look weak.

I personally like the tactile experience of a physical button but a capacitive button will be more reliable over time. I am personally not bothered by the capacitive buttons we have on our steering wheels already (2 trackpads).
Understood. MB is switching to capacitive buttons, so they're the best thing ever. And if they switch back to real buttons, they will be the best thing ever.

Of course I am being somewhat flippant, but this is how it comes across when your posts lack critical thought about your favorite brand. The Internet calls people who do this fanbois.

Wolfman - I keep thinking that they are going to screens to save cost. You have said otherwise. Why is that true?

That is a handsome car. But I find a lot of what BMW is churning out right now to be downright ugly....like the new grille on the 4 series... My goodness. Remember the E46 ? What a handsome car that was.
