I got a 2020 S560 with Pirelli's RFT and decided to switch them into the Continental Extreme Contact Sport. Any member with personal experience? Comfort and noise are my two important priorities. I appreciate your time.
As long as your in a warm Climate you should be ok like Florida or Texas or Arizona, California. These tires should not be used at temps under 45 degrees, they can be damaged and for sure not used in snow as they are a summer tire. Just about anything over the Run Flats is good. As soon as my Continental Run Flats wear out I'll go with Uniroyal Tiger Paws GTZ all season, a ultra high performance tire. Had them on my 2017 S550 and they had great traction and were holding up well and were half the cost of most of the name brand tires. The Uniroyals are actually made by Michelin, a lot of people don't realize that.
After the factory tires wore out I have purchased two sets of Continental run flats and I like them. I think they are model "DSW", I am not sure... but I know they are all season. I like them very much. I drive in the snow and get good traction and I do not notice road noise.
Not familiar with Extreme Contact Sport. There is an Extreme Contact DWS 06 that is a highly rated Ultra High Performance All Season NON Runflat that is popular. I would suggest going to Tirerack website and plugging in your vehicle. There are lots of alternatives and depend on your wheel size, and there are many Continental models (Extreme Contact, Contisportcontact, Procontact, etc). In my case, with 20 in wheels, there are no all season runflats for my rear wheels, but there are all season runflats for 19 in rear wheels.
Continental makes an Extreme Contact Sport is sizes that fit most S class vehicles. The Extreme line is not MB certified so the ratings and construction are a bit different. The MB certified tires are Extra Load rated as an example. The rear tires on my S are ContiSport Contact 5P's sized 285/35 ZR 20's with a load rating of (104Y) and a speed rating of "in excess of 186mph." The Extreme tire in that size has a load rating of 100 and a Y speed rating of up to 186mph. The wear index is different in favor of the extreme, it is 340, the MB tire is 240. The tires on my S ride better than any run flat but not as good as 18" or 19" tires with a lower speed rating. They are quiet. Basically these tires feel the same as the Michelin's on our other AMG sedan.

Tom,
Thanks for the reply. I looked over the Continental Extreme Contact Sport, and it looks like the load for the rear is 102 Y XL and for the front is 99Y XL. These numbers match the MB tire specs. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have also included a link to the Tire rack website for Continentals. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireS...earDiameter=20
I see, you are looking at 275's and 245's. I forgot the S560 has smaller tires. Those do appear to be the MB spec tires with the XL rating. Mine has 285's and 255's and there are no MB spec Extreme Contacts in those sizes.

This may have an obvious answer, but I am curious....The ratings for the Sport that pierno80 is asking about and the DWS 06 are comparable. What are the advantages of getting the Sport (a summer tire) over the DWS 06 (an all season tire)?
I cannot say for certain but I do have experience with the Continental DW, the summer only version of the DWS. compared to the 5P, the DW rode a little softer and felt somewhat less precise on turns. The 5P felt like it was designed with more emphasis on performance handling. I think the 5P and Extreme are likely similar. The DWS would be more like the DW, but with a tread compound that stays flexible in low temperature. There would also be more void area and traction block edges in a DWS. Since I live in SoCal by the beach I have no need for all season tires. Not sure about the O.P.

Tom,
I also live in SoCal and don't need All-Season! My main goal by switching from RFT to Continentals is to reduce the road noise. My local tire shop's sales rep told me that it wouldn't make sense to get the Continental Extreme Contact since it is still a summer tire and would make about the same noise as RF Pirellis. Not sure if that's true, though!
What I don't get is the o/p said his two main priorities are Comfort and low Noise. The Continental Extreme Contact Sport is more of tire for real performance car like a AMG or a Porsche. Comfort won't be so great and probably more noise than a lot of other tires especially as they wear. I'd think a tire for the average S560 Sedan or 2 door like the Bridgestone Potenza 980 or Michelin Primacy or the one I suggested in my above post would be a lot better of a fit for what you're looking to do. Heard nothing but good things about these tires too although not that well known. Vredestein Ultrac Vorti https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...n&autoModClar=

It will not be lots of options available for 20 inch S560 wheels. Not sure if the Michelin Primacy you mentioned is even available in this size!
I find the Conti 5P's to be quiet and they ride better than any run flats I have experienced. I have no noise or excessive harshness complaints about them, I have the Conti 5P's on my S65 and on my SL65. Perhaps I have a high tolerance for firm rides. A Serenity or Primacy would be a softer, smoother tire if they are available in the correct 20" sizes.
True. I missed the 20 inch wheel part but looks like the Bridgestone 980's are available. Thats what I liked about the Uniroyal GTZ I had on my 2017 S550 with the 20's was the ride was great, the tire woulda gone over 30K miles and handled great and very little noise and the price of the tire was dirt cheap. I was actually pretty amazed. I won't hesitate to put them on my new to me 2018 S560 once I wear out the Run Flats that are on the car now. I've had the Conti 5p's and nothing wrong with them, they are pretty firm though, that was the first tire I had on my 2012 AMG Wagon and then had switched to the Bridgestone Pole Positions which gave a better ride although they would wear out pretty quick. The other possibility is the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, cant go wrong with those tires, thats the tire my 2018 AMG wagon had on it and they would stick to the road like glue and the ride was not too bad. They do make those in the 20's also.

Thanks for the info. I tried the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s on my 2019 S560 and believe it or not those tires were noisier than RF Pirelli's!
We have the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires on our 2018 E63S, they were OE. To me they seem about the same as the 5P's, they are great performance tires. It is a difficult comparison because the E63S has an unyielding suspension even in comfort, nothing like the S65 which is smooth and compliant compared to the E. The last time I had Pirelli's on a car they seemed much harsher and noisier than the Conti's I replaced them with. I have no current experience with Pirelli tires.

Just as an fyi, while you don't need all season, from other threads on the forum, it appears the most popular non RFT tires are the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ and the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06.
I'm cansel runflat when order the car and recive it on normal Bridgestone Potenza S001. They any way better than any runflat. But this Bridgestone anyway piece of sheet. So, ask Michelin or Conti if it possible ))))

What tire did you switch to? Can you give an update on overall impressions. Btw, assume you have 20's?
