Sport package-rear rotor size?????

Hello all! Planning on a pad change to stop this ridiculous dust. So in anticipation of that I will probably order rotors also. Don't want to make any assumptions and have read conflictiong info. I have a 2016 S550 w/ the sport package. I see 340mm and 360mm sizes for rear and dont want to assume the sport package has the larger 360mm rotor. Anyone in the know to confirm this for me.? I saw on one website with and without sport package but in specifications both say its a 340mm rotor which can't be right?? Thanks

Pretty confusing. I just scanned RockAuto's catalog, and every rear rotor that has dimensions shows 340mm dia, with AMG/sport or otherwise.

They do make a distinction between drilled and non-drilled and that may explain why the Mercedes catalog has three different number for S550 sedans: 222-423-13-00 for "without AMG pkg", 222-423-14-00 for "with AMG pkg without HD" and 222-423-15-00 for "with AMG pkg with HD". When I searched using my VIN, I got all three numbers again!

Gets annoying having to triangulate between multiple sources this way doesn't it?

While I don't know the size of the rotor I will say that the sport package is purely cosmetic. The brakes, suspension and drivetrain are identical to non sports package cars. The only difference is front and rear bumpers, side valances and rims (which are also sold separately). You can purchase whatever is spec'd for any non AMG line car (S63, S65 etc).

Sounds silly but I just used 3 narrow pieces of dowel to create a large caliper of sorts. I used some zip ties to hold the u shaped contraption together and just found the widest part of the rotor through the wheel spokes and measured that. It is pretty easy to know if they are 340 or 360 as it is a 20MM difference. Mine were 340MM and I have the AMG sport package. I would guess that is what you have. I ordered mine from Rock Auto PN# EBR1603XPR. They were around 100 bucks each, with pads and hardware I think I spent around 300 bucks for the rears.

Thats exactly what the sticker states....but guys with sport package cars cannot put 18" rims on as they hit calipers?? So there is a difference as to why 340Mm and 360MM ?? It very confusing if not buy stock parts. All say with or without sport package but list 340mm rotors for both????!!!

Thank you. I googled that part# and on 10 different sites it does not state if it is a 340 or 360mm anywhere?

I have never heard of someone with an S class with sports package having issues with 18" rims. Tire Rack will sell you an 18" snow package.

As much as I love the FCP concept for things like fluids and wiper blades, I suspect the pricing they use is designed to stack the odds in their favor on most of this stuff. I did my rears for around 300 bucks all in with new pads, rotors, HW and fluid. Looks like you pay a premium through FCP. Probably a good deal if you go through more than 1 set of brakes but I suspect most people get a free set at the most and then forget about it or sell the car. Rock auto had the best pricing that I could find.

True, however, when you drop $$ on the Wipers, each year you can order a new set and get them for free. There marketing plan works. I agree with you about stacking the odds, however, it can benefit many on the forum. If you like to track your car ( not necessarily the SCLASS ), you can keep replacing your rotors and pads every 6 months.... Crazy marketing, but they will replace... So they charge more for a quart of oil, but.... Change your Oil twice a year, return the old oil and get free replacement oil. Within 2 oil changes, oil is free, not my words, its there policy. It for sure can work for some people, others do not need take advantage since they don't touch the car, they just drive them... Your points are well taken... Great concept they have. I thought there was a gimmick like I have to pay a restock charge, core charge or minimum shipping... Ship the cheapest way possible or if you are local, you can drop the stuff off. Stand-up Company....

LOL ... stopped at the store this afternoon and noticed an S550 with 18s ... almost wanted to go ask if I try one of their wheels on my car to see if it would fit. Bet that would have startled the owner!
