Carfax Correction
Hi all. In a past post my cars carfax said it had repairs that never happened. I contacted carfax last month and today I got a response. It appears they have fixed the issues. Below is their reply.
Good Morning Katie,
Thank you for contacting CARFAX. I'm very sorry for the delay - we've been working through a backlog of cases due to impacts from Covid-19.
I've initiated your data dispute under reference number 11209280.
I've verified with the source and removed the incorrect record and updated the report - this update will take 20-60 minutes to process.
For your convenience, here's a 10 day link to the Report: https://www.carfax.com/viewCustomerR...VYgm5JxptnMlWg
Once again, I'm deeply sorry for the delayed response.
Please let me know if I can help further. I hope you have a wonderful day.

I have not had the chance to look at the corrected Carfax. If the oil change is still there I am not too concerned. I have the receipt that shows what was done as I have the receipts for everything EXCEPT a transmission change that never happened. HA
It did not take them that long to fix the problem. About a month.

Hi Katie22,
Did you call them or just fill out the online error request?
I too have a Carfax error that needs fixing:
- I got into a minor fender bender in late Sept 30, 2018.
- It took a while for GEICO to investigate it but they sent me a check in Dec 17, 2018.
- I brought it to a repair facility in May 17, 2019 (I was out of town for a few months), which negotiated the repair costs with Geico, which issued a new check.
Now, Carfax shows that I have TWO repairs on record: One in Dec 2018, and the other in May 2019. I first called GEICO and asked about the Carfax discrepancy and they said they only inputed the single accident into a common system that Carfax might have used. They have no control on how Carfax shows its data.
So I filled up the online error resolution with Carfax last week and I have not heard from them at all. I have not even received an email ackowledgement that I filed a dispute. Am I supposed to wait a month before they get back to me? I wish they had a number that I can call. I am trading in this car for a new GLS and I don't want Carfax to show that I had two accidents (while minor) instead of only one (which is the truth).
Thanks,
Paul

I just filled out the form
Just filled out the form and stated they have repairs for my car that never happened. The report also was missing repairs which I have receipts for such as the active body pump.

I would have to concur with you on this. Services seem to get mis-entered or are very ambiguous on CarFax reports. The best thing to do IMO when purchasing a car with a CarFax report is to contact the dealers or shops that did the repairs and see if you can sweet-talk them into giving you details of what they did. A car can look well serviced at a glance of the report. But it isn't really telling you if there were certain things to lead somebody to the conclusion that the car may have been a lemon and the previous owner was just looking to dump it.
