Under Seat Storage Box?
Does anyone have one (or two) of these in their car? I don't think mine does ... I know they put these in E-class cars ...

This has been discussed before; a quick search may help...
Mercedes stopped installing these during the 2015MY production. No compartment = newer...

I had seen somewhere these mini drawers were intended for road flares, mainly in Europe. I tried opening the one on my passenger side and only succeeded in breaking the plastic clip that was holding it in place.

First two photos depict your blank cover. Storage left & right replacement part is # 2229100500 (need VIN to supply color code), second photo. Looks as though both have same bracing to confirm compatibility visually inspect area behind current cover to confirm there is clearance for storage. I think there will be I believe this was simply a cost cutting intent by MB.

I always liked them. Enough space for a microfiber and a flashlight. But ideally I prefer to have the option for a fire extinguisher instead of a compartment/cover. Had that on our S-Class models in Europe

The European fire extinguishers are similar in shape and function to a US-style road flare. They fit perfectly in the under-seat drawers. Unfortunately, these drawers are almost impossible to open unless you know the secret opening method. You are far more likely to break the drawer before you get it to open.

is there a part number for the handle itself? My used S550 came with the drivers side one with a broken handle and I'd actually like to use it for my wallet when i go to the gym.
Thank you

MB does not offer part separately only cover replacement. Provide VIN if you want correct part #.

Same here. I use the compartment in my driver's side everytime I get in the car. Neat little feature.
