I had a rock chip hit my windshield while on the freeway. Long story short, my insurance paid for the windshield replacement and had me go to Gerber Glass & Collision to do the work. They paid for OEM parts. However, I noticed that the replacement windshield was different. My car is a 2015 S550 with distronic plus, rain sensor, etc.
My original windshield glass had this imprinted on the bottom:

Also on the new windshield the location of the non-UV portion of the glass (see attached RED circled areas on photo) seemed to be off on the side of the center top of the windshield, and also a box area in the middle bottom of the windshield) instead of just below the rearview mirror on my original windshield. When I pointed out these differences to the technicians at Gerber glass, they said they get the OEM glass from the mercedes dealer and were told that they don't make 2015 windshields any more, and "upgraded" me to the 2017 version. Anyone know if this is true? Also is the 2017 version better than the 2015 version of the windshield?
