Does the W222 have a sport suspension option?

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I test drove a 2018 facelifted S350d 4matic AMG line with 19s, and I wasn’t all that impressed with its ride comfort. I have driven before S classes with 19s and they were better, but this one just wasn’t impressive, I find the new A8 and the current 7 series more comfortable than that particular car. I was so stunned by this that I also checked if I was in comfort mode( which I was) So that makes me think, does the non-AMG W222 have a sport air suspension option, like my D4 A8, or maybe the facelift has a stiffer ride, compared to the pre-facelift which I had driven in the past, and found more comfortable with the same specification of tyres and rims?
cheers!

The AMG packages are always going to be a stiffer ride compared to a non-AMG s class. I have had both and if you want a smooth ride, get a Mercedes with AirMatic suspension.

There are no suspension differences with the Sport Pack. If is the exact same (Airmaric) suspension either way. Same bushings, shocks, mounts, etc.

"2018 facelifted S350d 4matic AMG" I was referring to an actual AMG model Mercedes. Not just the AMG Sports package. Sorry for any confusion.

A S350d IS NOT an AMG car. You are likely thinking of the AMG bumpers and side skirts which are an option on all S-class models. There is no difference in the suspension comfort of the Airmatic until you get into an actual S63 which is tuned firmer.

Could have been tires, air pressure in tires or issues with the suspension itself, but no there is not a sport suspension outside of the full AMG models.

Thanks for the replies! I also thought that the normal S class only has one suspension option. Maybe something was wrong with that particular car. I also don’t believe that the facelift will have a stiffer ride compared to the pre-facelift?

cheers!

my pre-facelift s550 (2014) has two options... comfort and sport... 1inch different in ride height and MUCH harsher than the smooth ride you get when in comfort mode ;-)

also, as for the statement that:

don't S63s have ABC? (or magic body control?) instead?

MBC is standard in the S600/Maybach & S65. It's a high cost option in all other RWD S-classes. The S63 does not have it available since they are all 4matic.
