What 18" wheels

What 18" wheels will fit a 2015 S600

I am looking for a set of 5-spoke wheels that enable tires with the tallest sidewalls to will fit over the OEM brakes on my 2015 S600.

Tricky question Mitch! If you have the AMG Sport Pkg brakes (and I'll bet they came standard on the S600), you have to be careful b/c the big calipers require quite a bit of clearance under there. I researched several 18 OEM wheels and could never be sure they would fit.

Here's a measurement I took on my 20" AMG wheels showing the needed clearance ... IIRC, need about 55 mm under the spokes ...

That said, I found this picture of a car that appears to have 18s with AMG Sport brakes, so there may be an OEM wheel that works ...

I thought those were the 20" wheels (code 20R ) 8,5 J x 20 ET 36 (front) and 9,5 J x 20 ET 43,5 (rear) from a facelift w222
and that the (pre- and facelift) 600 needed minimum 19" 8,5 J x 19 ET 36 245/45 R19 (F) and 9,5 J x 19 ET 43,5 (R) 275/40 R19 cause 18" werent available with that engine(brakes). If you have the AMG line (950) it came with 8,5 J x 19 ET 39   245/45 R19  (F) and  9,5 J x 19 ET 39   275/40 R19 (R).

Apologies, yes, that's actually a 20 ... the 18 I was thinking of is this one. Again, the problem is knowing the dimensions inside the wheel and I think the only way to do this is get one of the wheels and try it on.

Yes, the 2015 S600 was only offered with 19" and 20" wheels.
I would really like to find a set of 18" wheels that fit (not just the 5-bolt pattern, but over the brakes, too).
I am simply tired of the 20-spoke wheels (takes too long to clean), preferring something simply like 5-spokes (plain).
I may have to get a set machined from billet to fit over the brakes--if so, fine.

Just go on Tirerack and they will show you tons of wheels that fit.

I did, before coming here.
They have nothing in the 18" wheels that fit (or they know fits).

Take a look at alloywheelsdirect.net. They show just about every 18” MB wheel. These are my favorites that came on my 2013 W221 S550, easy to keep clean, (top photo). I believe they will fit, but not sure. These folks are very helpful and respond quickly to emails. They can probably tell you if they will clear the calipers on your car. I bought the 19” forged wheels for my SL from them and the experience was truly outstanding. Good luck.

That's MY CAR! I don't think there is anything AMG about it.

If your issue is the time to clean your wheels and not the ride, maybe look into brake pads that create less dust. I know there are some out there, but I'm not sure of any specific brands. Messing with a non OEM wheel and tire combo can be a headache if the overall circumference is dissimilar from the original.

Being an absolute fanatic about clean wheels, before I took the huge plunge and popped for a set of AMG Ceramic Composite Brakes on my SL450, I went with ceramic pads made by Porterfield Racing. Those pads reduced the amount of dust by what I figure was at least 50%, which no change in the pedal feel, no squeaking, etc. I highly recommend them. Porterfield Racing is in Costa Mesa, CA.

Thanks for the reference.

Part of the problem is the time it takes to clean all those little spokes...........
The other part of the problem is road rash on the current wheels,
Which leads to an excuse to do something about it,
And I have decided I want a taller sidewall on the tires.

I was just told my ‘17 S550 has 4 cracked wheels. Previously I had one cracked wheel fixed. I now think I’m done with the 20 inch run flats.

For those who went with the OEM 18” wheels, did you get the same widths for front and rear? Currently the rears are wider than the fronts.

Any info would be appreciated.

I wend down from 20 to 19 after perusing TireRack and seeing that 19" has a lot more options than 18".

If you are going to stay with genuine MB wheels, the 18’s offered on any year W222 were always the same width both front & rear. You had to go to 19’s to get staggered wheels. I had new 2015, 2018 & 2020 W222’s that I ordered with 18’s and Magic Body Control. They were “THE” best riding, most comfortable cars I’ve ever owned and I’ve had many. WAY better than the new W223’s.
If you want to go with brand new MB wheels, definitely try these folks: ALLOYWHEELSDIRECT.net. I’ve used them and their service & prices cannot be beat. Best of luck to you.

On the other hand, if you have already broken, dented, cracked; the factory MB wheels, you best option is a real forged wheel.
