I can get about 24 MPG in my S600 on interstates when I drive like people are supposed to.
I am pressed to keep it over 20 MPG in the city.

They are surprisingly good on gas. My lifetime average is just below 20, which is amazing

I would think the S560 gets a bit better mileage than an S550.

Probably true with the smaller motor and 2 more gears.

I just went to Houston and back and got about 25 mpg doing 80 mph or higher most of the way. My car rarely auto-stops (I think the battery is getting old) or might do a little better still ...

Much the same here. Car delivers big time in 9th gear.

So, you have used 134 gallons (5253/39.2)
and the engine was running for 2992 of them,
for a millage while running of 22.3 MPG.
Still pretty acceptable.

I decided today at least around town I'm going to sacrifice a little gas mileage to drive with the eco mode off. I just don't like the feeling of running on 4 cylinders around town, the steering wheel vibrates a little bit and it just does not feel as smooth. On the highway it really does not make all that much of a difference. I noticed the same with my old 2018 E63 amg wagon too. Just don't like the 4 cyl mode around town and not real crazy about the stop and go of the engine in eco mode either. Especially when you need the heat or the ac going.

The ~$200 I spent on the MCE Eco-Off module is the best money I've spent on this car.

On newer cars is "eco mode" separate from auto-stop or same thing? Interesting that you can turn off cylinder deactivation, I know people have turned off auto-stop, maybe the two are combined in "eco mode"?

Yes the same switch on the left of the center console with the green light when on turns off the eco mode which combines Cyl deactivation and auto engine stop. Anything below a 2018 does not have cylinder deactivation which is not a bad thing as it does not do much for economy other than cause slight vibrations which I don't like. With my AMG there was a light on the dash that would come on indicating you were on 4 cyls but not on the S class it gives you no indication.

Well my S550 is pretty much 99% city commuting and gets 16mpg. To me that’s not bad since my brother’s CRV only gets 20!

I have a 2016 550e as well, I usually get between 32-35 on mixed driving. When my aux battery was out and they hybrid system shut down I was getting 22-23 which is about the quote up above but the car is not designed to run on gas alone but it was still pretty decent.

S350 2104

Just done a 1750km drive to our home in the country here in Australia, 2014 S350 averaged 6.1L per 100k (35.8mpg) with an avg speed of 71km/h. It was 5.9L per 100k but many roadworks increased it by .02.

Will be heading back in a couple of weeks so hoping to better the 6.2L/100km.

6L/100km is easily within the range of more modest (and lighter) cars, which is a great result! I see you have an S350 so that's not too shabby!

The best I've managed with my S560 was 7.9 (and quickly rose to 8.5) using Distronic at 130Km/h in the Italian Autostrada, a long and usually uninterrupted stretch of road. Otherwise, I hope to to get around 9l on my best days in most highways (and ~18 within city limits using Distronic as much as possible).

In 18,000 of driving my 15 S550 I have been tracking mileage with the Fuelly app. Overall 19.6. Just interstate driving I get 25-27 mpg.
