Center Console CarPlay Wire

My 20019 S Coupe has the USB media interface wire in the center console. I want it to connect to my Iphone and leave the phone in the cupholder. I really do not like crushing the cable that comes out of the center console nor do I want to use a flat cable. The whole exposed wire is silly on a car like this. Is there a way to route the wire from the center console to the cupholder area so that the phone end is in or near the cupholder and the usb end is in the center console so no wire is exposed? I have found the wireless dongles to be worthless.

Yes

Remove the cup holder drill a small hole,( enough that you can run a longer usb extension) and plug it into your console box. I threw my cup holder away because I don’t put drunks in my car and the stowage is utilized better. I personally moved my usb into the stowage compartment where the ashtray was. You do realize that the ashtray area came two ways, right? Either with a receptacle and outlet or just a flat open tray with a rubber non slip mat. I changed mine out to be a wireless charger in the ashtray stowage and now have all the functionality of no wiring it at all.

On mine, I have the cigarette outlet and what I would call a slot about 1 inch in height and three inches in depth. I am not certain this one is removable or if it is, I’d love to know how. Also, how did you transfer the wireless charging tray from the center console to the ashtray area. I’d be interested in doing that.

Yes, they actually sell two different trays, one for stowage and

one for an ashtray. You can obtain the stowage one from your dealer and get rid of the ashtray. There is also a mat that you can get from MB as well. My stowage is now a wireless charger and I didn’t waste my USB ports by doing it this way

Where did you drill the two holes. Did you come out the center console on the side and back in on the side near where the cupholders were or did you snake a wire from inside the console to the cupholder area?

Perhaps I can get an answer to my post number 6. Looks like the last post has hijacked my post number 6 query.

Update. Went to a car stereo installer yesterday. Said he would have to remove the entire center console all the way back to the aft seat to get the wire from the USB port in the center console to the cupholder area. I passed on that option. Does anyone have details on how to get the wire from the center console USB port to the cup holder area without taking apart the car?

I have the same issue. Just decided to deal with the cable going from the console area to the cupholder area. There are two small indents at the front side edge of the console where a wire seats and passes through the console without pinching if that helps. I actually have grown to like having the cable exposed as it allows me to hold my phone while connected if needed. The other thing is the cables tend to wear out pretty fast and I do not want to have to take the car apart every time I want to swap the cable out.

There's a notch in the center armrest that i am able to slip the cable through without pinching.
